Do you wanna name your ship with an awesome name such as 'Hellfire Revenge' or 'Blackstorm Revolution' and stuff? First, think two awesome names and combine it. Probably it could be related in religion like that of Hellfire Revenge. Or a color's name and combine it with one of nature's disaster. ex, bluetyphoon (It more sounded like a power ranger's name, let's disregard that rule first) Think of an awesome word such as revenge. Or search for its other word that relate to revenge such as retaliation. Like retribution of blacklights.
Possible ship names:
Vengeance of Avenger Retribution of Blacklights Anti pirates ship (more sounded like one of the groups of templar force's allied forces. Don't pick this one) Vulkan Spacetitan Enigmatic Leviathan etc

I like your ship names. I agree, colors and disasters may not work so well ... "PinkDrought" might not be quite menacing enough I've done a couple of Latin ships as en explorer Uno modo Trinus (one way trip) celerem mortem (Quick death) Mortuus Mox = Soon to be dead The crew were truly expendable - I usually had a turnover of at least 50% per game year. Right now I am flying the Scourge of the Song and will continue to do so until one of the bastards actually defeats me (can't see it happening any time soon)

My favorite name so far was an Honor of Thulun that I renamed the "Rusty Rag" maybe not so intimidating but very piratey.

That would be the ultimate insult to those stuck-up Thulunians. They would gasp if there was any rust (or other blemishes) showing on their ships. Of course, they tend to turn a blind eye to weapons damage because they are constantly targeted by other factions for their arrogance ...

Yeah, needless to say I wasn't flying for Thulun. I think I liked the name for just the reason you mentioned. Take their "honor", tarnish it and use it to pillage their ships.

I like your ship names. I agree, colors and disasters may not work so well ... "PinkDrought" might not be quite menacing enough During the last community challenge I renamed my Pride of Devaltos "Pink Drought." The name proved to be extremely effective. When the enemy ship saw me coming, their crew was laughing so hard that they were incapacitated.

Yes, there are particular names that cause enemy ships to automatically scuttle, leaving you with very easy pickings. (Just kidding). Unfortunately names are purely cosmetic, a bit like vanity plates on cars, except in ST, nobody can hear your enemy laugh.

Find my pilot Harmony at the nearest Starport- or her ships, the Wings of Liberty. No Privateering.

Names have power. Use them carefully. I named my Honour of Thulun "Lex" and imposed martial law with it. I named my Pride of Cadar "Zephyr" and blew the world away with my torps. I named my Rychart Flagship (man I love those) "Wings of Liberty" and liberated many ships from their pirates. On a side note, Thulun's Flagship is so fat that when it takes off it says "Battlecruiser Operational"

For me, ship names just has to be natural, something that just fits with the situation. For my Dread pirate character, I stole a Rychart Dragoon and called it "The Yankee Dragon" needless to say 10 years worth of blockades and merchant looting put the Song and Valtos alliance in their place.
