If you're a Knight in the NBZ, you can't have missed the change in the Encounter system.
We have a long list of additional Encounters that we are planning to add, but are holding this open call to get your ideas and suggestions.
You can lend ideas that are simple or as fleshed out as you want to (even down to the point of naming skills, the actions, etc).
Feel free to suggest Encounters that would only happen when ... a) ... you have High or Low Heat b) ... you are being Monitored in the zone c) ... you are in friendly or enemy territory d) ... you are working a job e) ... you are in a specific faction area (i.e. Fennian-only Encounters) f) ... there is a certain rumor on (Taxi Lockdown!) g) ... you have a Runner on your team h) ... you have met the leader of one of the gang factions i) ... etc!

"Claim jumper" Runner or team team who have gotten wind of what you are carrying and mean to take it from you, either working for a rival or to take the package or data for themselves.
Black market hatchet squad looking to harvest organs and cyberware to sell to the clinic. Ideally they would be using non lethal and melee weapons and flee when they no longer have the upper hand.
Wrathful person out of their mind with rage and grief who thinks (rightfully or wrongfully) that you killed a loved one. They could be really tweaked out on drugs, highly aggressive and be hard to ditch or drop, and be heedless of being outnumbered

Condition: Monitored, taking a cab
Situation: You are being pulled over for suspicious behavior. Do you A) Jump out of the cab and take your chances on the streets. (You get deposited in random location between start and ending location) B) I've got nothing to hide.

You are escorting somebody.
You get to the destination.
SURPRISE! Your escort and a house full of baddies jump you. It all was a setup to get you killed.

You are carrying something. Heat is high.
Whatever it is that you are carrying, it attracts dogs.
First an attack by one dog, then an attack by 2 or 3, then by 4-6 ... the longer you have to walk, the more attacks you get, each with more dogs.

Condition: needs Electronics skill, Maglock, or high strength
Situation:
Distressed looking woman runs up to you and asks in a desperate voice, "Can you please help me? I've been locked out of my apartment by my landlord, but my baby's still stuck inside!"
A) Sure! No problem! B) Walk away. It's not my problem.
If you open the door: A) Thank you so much! It's not much but here's (reward) for your troubles! B) You've been suckered into helping out a robbery! (lose rep, gain heat)

If a zone isn't selling any weapons, how about being jumped and given a load to smuggle in/out?

How about mutants. Nano monsters. Water mutos around docks. Trogs in tunnels. Citizens approach an ask for help. Children missing. Contract for monster heads.

Condition : high rep area (above 60)
A girl crying is jumping at you "my baby is dying, I need your help" Options : ignore (high loss of rep) Follow her (2 possible ending given randomly 1) there is a baby to help 2) it's an ambush) Take a look first (have a chance to see the ambush but small loss of rep if there were a baby)
Outcome : if there were a baby : the mom give you a credstick or v-chip or some advice If there were only goons trying to kill you : well...you survived the day chummer what else could you ask ?

Thanks for the ideas all! Some of these are on the list now to get added to the game, and they have also stirred up a lot of other ideas I can use to vary the Encounter set!

How about this: You're Monitored in hostile territory, and someone approaches you and says "there's a sniper trailing you. Move quickly or you'll be killed". Athletics to run, Stealth to try and evade them, Intimidate to use the person warning you for cover (this'll damage your Rep, but it'll give a better chance of survival).

1. More sniper encounter variety would be nice. I'd also like to see (in the current sniper encounter) a chance for a high perception + stealth or athetics knight to spot and close in on the sniper (and perhaps a choice to avoid him). Would be cool to fight a single highly skilled sniper enemy! Skill fail in avoiding would get the knight hit same as it is now.
So would be something like this: You think you're being followed - confront or avoid, skill fail gets you hit Successful confront (perception): You spot a sniper scanning the streets! - close in (athletics), leads to combat or avoid (stealth), fail in either would get knight hit
More specific than I intended but something of the sort
2. Some conflict specific encounters would be welcome, ie: during street war knight spots two faction groups fighting. Skills could help to id the groups but they would always be from warring factions. Then decide to fight either group for rep, or try to stay clear.
Might also even get a chance with high heat (or negative rep) that both factions spot the knight, make a temp truce and attack the knight together, leading to a mixed enemy group! I have no idea if this is possible though.
3. Saving a person from enforcers could lead to escort job with high heat but good rep for a certain faction. Or high pay but higher negative rep than usual. Or both. This could also possibly be conflict/rumour related to determine the faction(s) in case.

blacktoothgrin - awesome! I will work on the sniper one first, as that would be a lot of fun to turn that into a real combat with a deadly new enemy. For the others, they sound great, and we are really looking at Rumor / Conflict based Encounters next. That will help those parts of the game system really come into the streets and be felt. In a weapon shortage, if you've got Encounters where people are asking to buy your weapons, or demanding that you hand them over or fight ... you suddenly feel it!

Athletics to run, Stealth to try and evade them, Intimidate to use the person warning you for cover (this'll damage your Rep, but it'll give a better chance of survival). That's a brutal but awesome option. The Cyber Knight should always have the "cold" option like that -- self preservation at the cost.
