Is there any disadvantage to negotiating the price for a contract with a connector? If you ask for more money do you get a smaller reputation boost for success, or a bigger penalty for failure? If not, why wouldn't you negotiate?

drdave - no there is no drawback to negotiation at the moment. You can even negotiate just to see how much a connector is willing to give you and decline is job without getting any problem. For now, here's my advice : negotiate ! Go ahead, do it all the time

When you put it that way, it makes it really sound like a terrible UI that we have going here ...

When you put it that way, it makes it really sound like a terrible UI that we have going here ... In fact, when I start playing CK, I started with MnB and some NPC down in the tunnel told me (if I remember correctly) that negotiating a contract would automatically make you accept it. So at first I choose carefully which one I negotiate or not but I stumbled once on the back button of my phone and I realized that you can negotiate see how much money you can get and get out without any penalty. I don't know if it's terrible, to me it helps smooth how I choose a job but I must admit that it's not really realistic in story term...

Checking the original design docs indicates that was the intention - Negotiate would lock you in to the job and increase the penalties if you failed it or canceled it later. Those checks are not implemented.

I already always negotiate. I was just curious if I was slowing my progress up the ladders.

What if negotiation didn't lock you into the contract but would give you a small rep penalty if you declined after negotiating. I would think that the penalty for negotiating, or rejection thereafter shouldn't be too big. You're not really screwing them over, just being a picky beggar that nobody wants to work with.

contributor - I'm looking in to it, but I'm not really sure it results in a fun or more challenging experience! I will take a pass at fixing this.
