So with the near release of hos, the trese brothers will (hopefully) begin on a new project. Now it's a possibility that this new project will be st2.
So I made this thread as a form of general discussion about the following.
*what you hope will be in it. *what you absolutely don't want included. *cool stuff from other games you want in it. *questions/comments *or other games you want instead (St battlefleet or whatever) *finally a place just to yell at Me for making this thread.

ST2 has been mentioned on and off over the last 3 years now so I feel that it's been long enough and should be the next cab off the rank. Don't get me wrong, I love xenos, chummers, pirates and ole shifty eyes, but let's make a new ST with all of the dreams and desires that have built up since August 2010. -bases -fleets -more of a role for independents -ability to influence factional conflicts -more contact types -more upgrades and ability to swap out upgrades -ability to take over planets or eliminate steel song once and for all -improved planetary economics and specialized goods for planets -better export/migration of device support -custom ship creation -slayernz cruiser more available and not just from steel song grrr -dynamic map creation or at least randomized factional areas and planetary strength -Story arc -named enemies/elite captains -Tractor-beams (towing ships) -Death to Steel Song -escort missions
<edit> I'm at home now and having typed the above on a silly mobile phone, I wanted to add that I'm not a grumpy cat the delay in ST2 and the fact that we haven't got any of the above. I think if Cory started on ST2 straight after ST1, we would have still missed out on a lot of goodness just because Cory and Andrew have taken time to grow the skills that they need to make a perfect game. Also, if they went straight into ST2, WE would have probably missed out on CK or TA, or AoP or HoS. IN fact, it would have probably been another "Secrets of Steel". No, I'm really glad that we haven't yet got a ST2 ... but it's time.

It's not my game, but I'm not sure my game would exist without the core ST community. I definitely add my support to slayernz, with the additional suggestion that some of the love could be spread towards AoP as beautiful code comes along.

ooohhhh, fleshed out planets. I really like that idea. There really should be dozens of cities per planet and dozens more wild places.
I thought I heard that the overarching story line was the ascent of Steel Song and the exodus of the other factions (minus Cadar who foolishly tried to stop SS militarily) from the quadrant in search of the original home of men foretold by the ancestors at the beginning of the first Exodus. And yes templars need to play more of a role too.

I would also like to add to the list, greater diversity between the factions. It would be really cool if there were game changing differences between flying for DV or Thulun. In the same vein, bringing out the different cultures of the factions so that Javat space and Javat planets really feel very different from say Steel Song. Faction allegiance should mean something and it should be really hard to be friendly with everyone.

Sort of hogging this thread now. Out of the blue I found myself thinking about how I would like a more realistic Solar System Model in ST2. The current map with planets and stars sort of all locked in place is quite unlike the universe as we know it. It would be cool in ST2 to see something more like jumping between solar systems that might have 1-10 planets orbiting a star. There could also be things not attached to stars; asteroid mining operations, (multi-sector) nebula, dead planets, space stations etc.
This leads to the next thing, which may be more of an ST2 fantasy list addition, a 3D map. Don't know if this is possible, but what about stacking 2-5 2D maps on top of each other to give the impression of 3D. There could be limited points of traverse between them.

Talk about another stack of variables. Planetary data might help in exploration missions- especially if they want to keep colonizing the quadrant. Solar types can help determine where the worst radiation storms are and show safer traffic zones- and some solar systems will be able to support multiple colonies. I can find a planetary and solar classification system.

Do you mean interaction that doesn't always necessarily mean shooting them? Hey- you know I like gunning down killer monsters, but some of them show quite a bit of intelligence. Intelligence usually means an agenda. And like anything in politics, sometimes agendas coincide, sometimes they conflict.

I would like the ability to maybe choose which planet I start on. This would be especially useful if you added the ability to play as a browncoat. (indy)
