After reading the thread in the CK forum, I really feel it is a logical bonus that applies in HoS.
Three scenarios ... 1) Vraes runs down the corridor, hacking down a spider to the left, then one in front of him. Then the enemy party gets to move, and they move in to bite Vraes. He blocks the attacks but gets a few bites in the process.
2) Vraes stands still, and hacks down the spider to his left. He doesn't step forward, and remains in a very balanced stance. The enemy party gets to move and because of his stance, he is able to block the attacks more effectively.
3) Vraes stands still, and chooses not to attack, but instead focuses on being prepared for the next attacks. As such, the enemy party has even more of a problem with biting him.
There should definitely be a bonus for not moving, and even more for not attacking (instead, preparing to be attacked). Scenario 1) No bonus Scenario 2) +2 Parry Scenario 3) +2 Parry, +2 Armor
Every turn that he doesn't move should get a +1 to Parry as he's not chasing down the fight, but in the perfect stance to greet the onrush.

slayernz - ok, will discuss with Cory. It's an interesting idea. Would be something like "a defensive bonus per remaining AP" #HS-2241

I often end turn with 1 AP left so if it could be turn into some defense bonus, it would be great. On the same line, it would be very cool to have some talent to "wait for enemies". I mean : you stand in one point and keep enough AP to make one attack. When an enemy shows up, you could strike him before he can (only one attack of course). What do you think ?

Yeah that would be awesome - if you have enough AP left for a particular weapon, you automatically get to strike out with it as the enemy comes into range! It's that way when you play blood bowl, you watch as the hapless elves try and skiddle past a dwarven blocker, and the blocker just flattens the elf!

Hmm. At first glance I find the idea intriguing. At second glance, I start having implementation concerns. My concern flutters around how to balance the bonuses scaling to Difficulty level. Does it make easy too easy? Does it make Nightmare not be Nightmare? After those gameplay concerns, comes the fiddle-bitz: Does it affect magic? Should it affect arrows? Should being fully in the defensive affect the AP points for THE NEXT turn (Attacking from a crouch or shield protecting posture might hinder those first few steps)? Now computational concerns. How will it impact game performance? How will it slow/change memory consumption, yadda yadda. rabid

We'll take care of looking at all of that, down the road, when we think more about this possible feature. There would be -lots- of concerns, I agree!
