I did the Korvains Trench dungeon by going around to the left and not following the main wagon tracks and going across the (unbroken) bridge. On my way back out I followed the path that you're "supposed" to take and went I went across the bridge I triggered the battle there. Problem was my characters were glommed with Vraes in the front and they unstacked with Tamilin in the back, basically with her back right to all the bad guys. Fortunately we won the initiative roll and got to move first. If they would have had the initiative there would have been no way to survive it as Tamilin would have had her back chopped and filled with arrows. I don't know if there's a way to "fix" this other than forcing people to go one direction or perhaps having another location that would trigger the same battle so that no matter which way you came at the hall you would have the same fight. The dialogue was a little nonsensical because I had already been to the farm hall and was coming back.

Same thing happened to me... made things harder but considered it more an extra challenge than a bug.
Fortunately I started on normal difficulty which isn't too hard so I survived without losing anyone... I probably would have been down to three characters if on a harder difficulty there.
When I replay on a more difficult setting I know to expect them.
I personally don't mind this type of thing (except in extremes) it makes each game unique.

This is now #HOS-2270 to fix! If you come from the north, they will camp on the south end of the bridge. Evil vermin!
