A lot of you are probably already doing this, but since buffs don't expire while wandering, it helps to buff prior to entering combat. Then you don't have to spend action points in combat to buff.

Absolutely. This is one of the best uses for Farsight -- spotting combats to allow pre-buff.
At the END of a combat, the game rolls a number of "recovery" rounds off your Buffs.
The number of recovery rounds at the end of combat are based on difficulty.
Higher difficulty consumes more turns after each combat.
A solid strategy is a "post battle cleanup" checklist that includes healing up, buffing up, etc.

Also the most compelling reason to raise skills that are backing Talents, as it increase the duration

raise them enough and you can roll through multiple combats.
as the game goes along, if you are raising the correct skills you'll be able to rapidly overcome the "recovery rounds" on any difficulty.

Personally I think this should be included in the tutorial. The fact you can buff before combat and the turns don't start counting down til an engagement is huge.
Perhaps something about Vraes asking for a moment before a fight in the dungeon to focus, with that little tidbit. I also think sweeping attack should be on his initial start up of hotkeyed skills so new players know it is available from the start, and could also use the iron skin buff part then to demonstrate casting skills without having then in the hotkey menu.

Karjus - thanks, I will make sure that we add this to the early dialog in the Red Hill Dungeons.

Sent from my GT-I9100P using proboards Now I'm not on the phone.. to explain a little further why I think the Stone Skin/Sweeping should be swapped. Due to the fact that the player can't camp, the only bonus they'd be getting is +2 armor for one fight as the buff only expands Maximum HP and not also current. Probably more micromanagement than most player's will be ready to deal with to start. On the other hand, most players will probably gain some immediate benefit from the accuracy buff from Sweeping, as it is very easy to use. >< Realize you already commented fallen, but just wanted to expand a touch on my thoughts.

Imho, Stone Skin is a killer starting moving and definitely worth having in the front list. The Cleric can make up the difference easily. Thanks for the feedback!

I find it useful later on when I know I can fall back to a campfire. For the tutorial dungeon where you can't usually a better use to save it the sp for damage. After all if you top yourself up and the combat ends if you're on any sort of difficulty level you'll lose it.

I thought all buffs expired after you camped.

I don't waste time on them anymore. I always seem to take the same amount of damage regardless of how many points I sink into them anyway.

Hehe, whatever works for your group -- there are so many options =) On Nightmare, you probably won't get far without a lot of Buff and Curse. I can see that if you played on Easy or Normal you might not feel like you really need them.

The next update will include the full duration of a Curse or Buff, printed as such:
"Buffs for 10 Turns (Lore) .."

Just a display change, however, the rules are the same.
Stone Skin is a must have for my Outlander builds.
