Some Heroes have fallen to in a brave fight with the Deathkin, or while standing before the untamed the might of the Orcin horde. And than there are the others. You know the one's who run out to fight the Ratkin without any equipment or trip or fall on their own 2-h sword. This thread is dedicated to those eye-cringing deaths that make you wonder why you're even allowed to play the game. Think of it as a support group. Here are my own top three useless deaths:
1) Getty un-ready for a fight. The big fight at the bridge and the Episode 1 Keep: I intended to swap out a 2-H spear for a shield and sword and equip defense focused items. I got interrupted by a phone call and missed a crucial step: Equipping. Outcome: yep, I send Vras naked and weaponless against the toughest enemies in Ep. 1.
2) Forgetting to heal thy self. In a ratkin mob fight, my Cleric and Warrior took some nasty hits. My turn, I re-positioned, attacked and healed the warrior. I was supposed to heal the Cleric before ending the turn but out of habit, hit the end-turn button with a Cleric that had 4 AP and about as many hit points. Turns out Ratkins can hit the weak character.
3) Sending a Mage to die. While marching along the Lizardman infested banks of the Torrent River, I was ambushed. No big deal. Grouped up, healed and starting counter attacking. Warrior and cleric took out the close ones, Thief took out the mid-range one, leaving my Wizard to laywaste to the far ones. Most fireballs were killing in one hit (all points devoted to spell accuracy and fireball) so it should have been a masscare leaving a few to mop up the next round. However, instead of selecting a target, I sent him to stand right next to the target (fat-finger and force of habit double touch). I caught the error too late. He was five steps away from the party square, standing right next to several lizard men. He had no AP. No one in the party had any AP. I was tempted to just power off and re-start but that would be poor sportmanship. But I knew if I hit end-turn, he would take a beating he couldn't survive. I had to watch painfully as I hit end-turn barely hanging on to the hope that maybe the foes would target the group and let the wizard sneak by. Wizard died on a spear.
