I am getting this meeting a Kaihmer Pirate Sloop, operating as a privateer.

Right now there is a Blood Feud between East Acadain & Federation of Kaihmer.
I am in the Grey Coast. I have been doing commisions for my navy, the Federation of Kaihmer. They are pleased with me. Indeed they offered me another 2 promotions when I made port, so I am rank 6, 'Captain' now. This is 28 Nov 407.

I have taken 27 Commissions and rejected 80. Of the missions I have accepted I have successfully completed 25 and failed 1 (the wretch escaped before I could kill him).

I have survived 1 mutiny, have never been captured and looted, imprisoned, nor expected.

According to my log:
Our reputation as a Privateer is growing, and our Letters of Marque with Federation of Kaihmer has paid off a recent profit of 128s 42c.

However,

17 Nov 407 -- Under the shadow of accusations of piracy and murder made by Ruesland, I have been convicted and declaired a Corsair.
1 Oct 407 -- We lost our letter of Marque with Cadari Republic under accusation of murder and piracy.

Right now Kaihmer thinks I am a director (58)
Cadari think I am a neutral party (-1)
Ruesland and Octopon think that I am a raider (-7)
Hansa thinks I am an outlaw (-5)
and East Acadain thinks that I am a Raider (-10)

All the other navies and trading houses have me at 0.
as do the Pirates (-1 for Corsair) which is odd given that I have been operating against the Buccaneers a whole lot.

My reputation has spread far and wider and I am known as a murderous and violent pirate. Other Captains and Crew will fear you in battle and will resist surrendering.

This doesn't quite measure up. What I am is a successful Kaihmer naval officer. I've never sunk anybody except that I had a commission to do so.
My policy has been to not take any Commissions against Kaihmer (of course) and Cadari. I seem to have messed that up once, or perhaps that was when the Cadari and Rueslanders had an alliance and I attacked at Rueslander ship.

Now if I was wanted for capture, dead or alive in Ruesland controlled waters, I would think that is all well and good. Even in Cadari waters. But down here in the Grey Coast when I meet Kaihmer vessels they should be quite pleased to see me.

So either I am misunderstanding something, or there is a bug here.

You could be onto something gravlïng. I just checked my faction status and i am 1085 with ruesland which i accept, but all the others are over 600, including Zenith who I have never even seen in the game. Buccaneers love me yet I am supposed to be a nationalist & zealot with a kill on sight order. I am feared by all, kill any buccaneer who dares stand up to me and yet I am at least legendary status with everyone?

Can send screenshots to Fallen/Cory's email if so needed?

I went to a Cadari port. I bought a pardon for 2 silvers. The spectre still hangs over me.

I did some work for the Cadari, and they offered me a letter of Marque again. And the 'shadow of treason' went away.

So the problem seems to be that if you lose your LoM with one nation, everybody thinks you are a Pirate, even if you have a second LoM with another nation who ought to be pleased as anything with you.

That's not a bug, however, it is possible to achieve that combination of reputation and ranks.

It is not *everybody* who thinks you are a Pirate, it is only the Nations to whom you are not something else.

As Rank and Reputation supersede the Hated Pirate flag, you will only find combats starting with such a warning against the Nations with whom you have no relationship / LoM.

Then there is a bug. I was getting the shadow of Piracy when meeting Kaihmer ships. And I was something else for them -- a captain of rank in their navy with a LoM, trading permits and the works.


Losing my Cadari LoM caused Khaimer to display the 'under the shadow' message whenever we met.

I have a few questions about this faction status I am confused about.

1) As you saw with the screenshots I sent, I have a legendary reputation with Buccaneers and they think I am a nationalist & zealot who distrusts me. What determines this description and can it be changed? How can they consider me a zealot and have over 600 rep at the same time?

2) I'm assuming Zenith and the other trading faction will be included in a future update. How can I already have 685 rep when I've never met them and no-one is at war or got feud with them?

3) The other description was that others fear me and reluctant to surrender. Is this based on captain level? Can the description ever be changed to something else? How is this description determined in the first place?

Imagine I went on a killing spree, and totally massacred a bunch of things.

Those things, they declare me a total savage, a murderous bastage, and refuse to be cool.

However, I start working for them and they reluctantly acknowledge that I am a war hero of much regard.

In this case, I am both things -- hated and loved, I am a living contradiction -- good thing I'm not a citizen but some floating sea dog.

Makes sense now. I was destroying every single buccaneer ship that dared attack me but had done quite a bit of work that was in their favour. Of course they won't know how to take me. I've been killing all their friends and drinking their looted rum with them! Why would they trust me!

Zenith and the other trading faction coming in soon? Perhaps as land-based factions to fit in with the land squares *hint hint*.

Additional maps with ports and forts for the currently inaccessible factions will be added to the Elite edition in future updates, yes.
