Ship Designer has been for sale for a while and I'd like to start updating and improving it.
Where should we start? =)

Longer explanations of exactly what the upgrades do, who should be buying them, and ideally what stats you need as a captain in order to use them well. Right now I cannot tell if I am designing them wrong, or if I need a whole lot more tactics, or ....

I would love to edit an existing ship to allow me early in the game to have a designed ship for less money than a fully one.

Custom STARTING ship!!! NOW you're talking! Ooo yeah, based on appropriate limitations, and with the right unlock, you get to create a ship design that can be used by new captains!

What about "Design Custom Ship for New Game" BINGO! I would love to be able to have a special "custom" slot for starting ships. Maybe even allow 2, one for a balanced ship (following same rules that other starters must adhere to) and another "free" ship, which would allow us to start with any valid ship as our flag? Would be such a fun toy to play with! *edit* ah, so I cast my vote for "Other"

So dreamy. Looks like I'm going to have to fight off the urge to play TA and ST in order to finish my current HoS run. You know, I was kind of hoping for the 4X alpha to drop soon, but now I hope it takes another month.... or three!

Where should we start? =) Sorry to be late to the party. I like the idea of a custom starting ship but I still think you should start by making all the current ships work. That's so easy to do (just change a few numbers, no logic). Then you can add a way to browse the catalog ships and pick one to customize. Then add the way to customize a starting ship (which I totally agree is an awesome idea).

1) "save design" 2) Build and design costs and maybe "maxed stats" differ depending on, your faction and profession and also the faction you're commissioning to build the ship. - A real chance to add to the back flavour of each faction and profession? 3) Ability to ship in materials to decrease cost. - Lots of metal, electronics, maybe alien artefacts etc? 4) Ability to "scrap" ships and salvage/recycle into new ship.

Not sure I agree with the game design of that, slawyer but as always, I appreciate the feedback. jp, thanks for the post. I'm definitely working on #4.
