Currently not possible but it will be a nice thing to have in the wish list. I have not been able to shoot up an Alien ship. Usually I win by boarding actions that lead to the death of the Alien captain while the ship is still intact. Why can't I just take it? Make the repair cost higher if you want, that will be something most of us don't care once we are established. Some of us worry about balance. Playing at Hard difficulty setting. I have a custom ship that carries 164 crew. My level 38 captain has Warrior at 52, pilot & tactics at 29. Encountered a 200 crew Bollish Alien lately. None of my shots hit. The only way was to board it. I survived by left with less than 50 crew (forgot the exact number). I have to make few pit stops on multiple systems just to get the count back to a reasonable level. Imagine what will happen if I have to fight some high level enemies or worse another Alien ship. I would be dead!!! Back to back tough fights kill regardless of what kind of flying death star you have.

Alien ships cannot be captured or captained by humans. It's a long standing fact in the game world of Star Traders. I can't count how many times we've been asked

They're, well, alien. They work differently. Imagine being an American fighter pilot and hopping in the seat of a Russian fighter jet, when you can't read the Cyrillic lettering and the gauges are arranged completely differently than you are used to. Is that a fuel gauge, or a temperature gauge? What's that blinking light mean? Now multiply your problems by 10 because on this alien ship, the engines seem to work completely differently than any you've ever seen before. And on top of that, there isn't a stick to control the ship, there are 7 levers and you have no idea what they do, and even if you did, you only have two hands, not 8 like this alien race does. Heck, you'd probably blow the ship up just trying to start the engines.

khearn - exalt for making me giggle. Basically what he said. Now, capturing and leashing a few aliens to unleash on pirate ships after they've been boarded, however...

Ah yes, the old "boarding shuttle full of aliens" trick.
Knock-knock Who's there? AIIIEEEEE!!! <slash> <chomp> <gobble>
The only real problem is that after the aliens have captured the ship for you, then you have to do another boarding action to capture it from the aliens (assuming you want to see what cargo it was carrying).
Well, it's usually pretty messy, too. But even a normal boarding action tends to be kind of messy.

Anytime you meet Rychart, for example. Also, this trick is old!? I can't find the menu option for it Is it a boarding option or ship upgrade? I guess feeding them would cost a couple of crew members per turn, going down for more intimidating captains just like water fuel does Cory, please add this Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

There was a time (long ago) where you could capture alien ships. I remembered controlling the narv hive, a FAST/QUICK ship with 1000 crew and only 10 cargo. I died from water shortage mutinies pretty quickly, but during the time that I was alive it was AWESOME!
