I am loving this game. It's almost edging out CK as my favorite. One question I have is how do the Independents buy the rights to worlds? Do the factions sell off unproductive/low quality worlds? Am I settling in bad locations?

When Factions colonize a world and realize that its horrible or if your morale is extremely low on a planet for a long period of time, they go independent.

Thanks. That also explains why another planet that got razed by the Xeno and went Indy after I took down its upgrades.

So if a planet ends up costing me an arm and a leg to upkeep and I really don't want it anymore, just remove its upgrades and abandon it? That's awesome to know, thanks OG

The OG Dictactor Hotline Incorporated (R) does not guarentee universal domination, golden toilet seats or avoiding guillitoines and does not cover rioting, coup or political assassination services and or protection. Please tyrant safely and responsibly.

It's possible you could force it to happen but it will cost you a vast number of Credits as the Faction fights you. Future updates will include the ability to use Planetary Engineering to improve quality or Political Treaties to force population reduction or even Indy conversion.

One of my planets became indy bc it was so crappy. However, I still have control over upgrades and projects like faction planets, and it still costs me money to mantain.
Any specific qualities of indy planets that faction planets don't share?
