I do hope that there is a possibility of improving planetary quality. There was this old 4x game in the days of the MS DOS - Armada 2525 which allowed for terraforming. Maybe a tech purchase and the purchasing the upgrade and it gets prohibitively more expensive as you increase the quality so players don't go gaga and have 20 quality 20 planets.

I like this idea. Maybe it could only be used on low quality planet (under 10) to keep the balance.

Yep, Terraforming is the other giant branch off Planetary Construction that is coming - the foil to Orbital installations.

I am so looking forward to that. Now I can't wipe that grin off my face.

These upgrades will not Improve Quality, but they will reduce Quality cost for existing Upgrades.
This is a key difference as Quality drives maximum population, which Terraforming does not increase.
Terraforming combined with Orbital Upgrades will allow even low Quality systems to have massive economic impacts.

How exactly does the connection Quality - maximum Population work? E.g. max.pop = quality?

Yes, I would also like to know. I have a quality 6 planet with 13 population and growing (hab 3 maxed space is already too small), and a quality 22 planet with 11 population that has not grown for a year.

Max Population = ( Quality / 2 ) * 3
OR
Max Population = (Hab Units) - 1

Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards I did an experiment where I set 60 Colonies to 6 Quality and after about an hour of running the simulator, none of them got to 13 Population (1200 turns.) Did that colony suffer invasions? Built on a much earlier version of the game? I wish I could help there but the math looks right and the tests all pass 100%
