Creating "Battlegroups"

I was thinking the other day. I usually refer to small groups of ships as my battlegroups, used for scouting/skirmishing, planetary defense, etc. I was wondering if we could assign ships to Fleets or Battlegroups. It would improve organization and the ship screen, which in my opinion, is hard to use.



The first ship assigned could be the Flagship of the group, and serve as the focus for attempts to zoom to it on the map. You could put the button on the individual ship menu. I know you are working on world waypoints, so maybe Battlegroups can have their own waypoints that the Flagship would move too, with the others following. The Battlegroups could be named by the player, an example being "Colony Guard 01" or "Skirmish Group 01". 
 
Then Battlegroups could possibly be assigned to Fleets, such as "Planetary Assault Fleet" or "Deep Space Support Fleet".

Not sure the saved game format will accommodate this, but I will look.

We are working on new filters and sorting for the ship list.

I find it very useful, even with 50 ship fleets, to have a ship list.

Future updates will include further improvements and refinements.

I had been thinking how nice it would be to have the ability to lock in a battle groups formation, then copy that as a group waypoint. As long as another ship didn't enter that waypoint, all the ships would move there in their own time, into the same position they started in. Moving the entire fleet is amazingly drawn out and difficult to organize.

Another thing I think would help with this is an icon that remains in the map when you have a ship heading to a square- not your active ship, but all ships that have moved that turn or are on route to that square(s)
