I picked up the elite version after reading that there was an upgrade to the initial version I had downloaded (There was a brief description of the elite version on the main page when I logged in.). Today after I ran the new update there is a page like that back on the front. Is there an expansion pack or something to it and if so how do we get to it? I did a few quick searches finding nothing as well as trying to click on the "Ad" type thing that was there to no avail. Is this just a fluke?

Anyone else seeing the "Free" edition promotional text in the Elite Main Menu?
Free should have a "buy me now" button (I invented that button in 1998, btw.)
Elite should just have a link that says "Free Games" (another thing I invented in 1997.)

I think we need a hardcore version of STRPG. The only ship you get to fly, ever, is the Vae Victus. The only upgrades are the rusty tin can water-fuel tank (~5) and the reinforced plywood plating (+1). You would have no torps, and be forced to launch rotten herrings at your enemies.

That would be a nice joke mode. Maybe like when you create a new character, you type the name as 'hardcore-[insert captain name here]'

i always thought randomly generated mini events would fit in to star traders nicely
imagine how fun it would be to hunt down the thulun dog who is spreading vile rumors all over the galaxy about you
your rep would start decreasing in a faction - you would have to travel to a faction allied planet and ask around palaces and spice halls until you get the rumor about where dude is
then you could go hunt him down and also press the "destroy" button that shalun law demands come standard on every vessel

we had a long term goal for ST RPG that you would someday be able to hunt down and destroy named opponents.
This is probably going to be reserved for a later game within the Star Trader's franchise, but I really, really like that idea!

So star traders 2? With modified storyteller,or a new engine? I assume that you have the answers right on your table because you are well known to plan far ahead.

Star Traders 2 will be built on top of Story Teller instead of the Star Engine.
StarEngine looks like it will be a one or two game shot. StoryTeller is the future =)
Planning ahead is all you can do when you have 1.3 employees =)
