Anyone have any tips for finding that 100-hull Alien ship for the achievement?
I've been following the standard Alien hunting strategies and destroyed upwards of about 30 ships, but still can't find the big one. It's getting rather boring now (well, to be honest it started getting boring a long while ago), so I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing... do they only show up (at reasonable likelihoods) at higher difficulty levels?
I'm around level 80, Hard difficulty, with Vet and Templar Hydra, 20 Artifacts, 30 Weapons, Null Field Generator. Am trolling around red sectors and dead planets near Alien rumors.

The probability of Aliens appearing is proportional to the level of difficulty you are playing. At Hard difficulty, you will have a very small chance of finding a big 100 hull Alien. Even at Crazy, it's not that common, but is at least a higher probability. So I recommend building up a new Xeno hunter at a harder difficulty - you'll certainly not be as bored and possibly not be as alive either

athios , This unlock also did my head in trying to achieve. It's probably not what you want to hear but once I leant enough about the game to prosper on impossible difficulty (which I always play now) about 1 in 4 captains that I create will encounter an alien of 100+ hull without actively hunting for one. I've only been able to defeat them with boarding oriented captains, however, so you might need too deviate from your usual captain/ship build. (Last one I defeated left me with 1 hull. Phew!) Good luck

Thanks for the approximate statistic beverage! I've been taking a ST vacation since I read slayernz's comment. Guess the next step is try for this on at least insane difficulty. Boarding captain won't be a problem as I play this type exclusively. :J

Yep. This happens a lot to my brave boys. Although usually its a canny Bounty hunter pretending to be a huge alien to make my crew kill themselves rather than be devoured
