As a note.. I recall having the 'Wanted' status, thanks to Thulun. I only had about -3 with Javat. Went to Javat, paid for Pardon.. 'Wanted' status was CLEARED! I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.
As another note. once you're hated by all. Only real way to get yourself out of it.. Is focus one or two govts solar/trade/spy wars. Keep attacking/spying on their enemies. eventually (and may take a LOOOOOONG time), you will get one friendly enough to buy a pardon. Once you have one friendly, use Trade Alliances, and the wars to get 1 or 2 others friendly again. For the Spy wars, when everyone hates you.. just do Surveillance on one.. to get the records, but SELL the records at independent (Or stockpile at a good cache planet to them cash-in later). Also, since you can land on hated-attitude planets (albeit not easily often), you can do missions from the spice-halls if lucky to help improve relations slowly.

Good idea captmo...
Also, keep a keen lookout on rumors, especially the officer ones. The nice thing about the majority of officers, is that they are CHEAP. only a percentage of what you have. I've never NOT been able to afford one. Smuggler/scout is helpful in particular along with the hold. Pilot and Political are useful. First for fuel efficiency, second for keeping you honest for Embargoes. (I ditch the first-mate as soon as I fill up on officers and am going for a third.. .If not just right off the bat)

As a side note, as I haven't seen it listed here. For the overall Speed/Agility ratios->labels. Engine/Sail =< Hull - Low/Slow Engine/Sail > Hull - Medium Engine/Sail => 2x Hull - Fast/Quick
Now, Cory (or other staff)... From reading through this thread... Fast/quick costs more fuel? That's news. Is it 'cheaper' use of w/f to get a medium/medium, then upgrade past the 2x to what WOULD be fast/quick.. for better fuel consumption?
I thought w/f consumption was more hull/crew/sails mix. (ie, larger hull, more fuel needed to move it. More people to drink the water, etc... More sails/engines however, makes it more efficient.)

Well, one of the easiest ways to increase cargo space fast, depending on WHAT you want to haul, are the four specific +25 holds. (water/fuel, electronics, records, weapons). But those are unit-specific. Outside of that. I think the largest is a +20 flat-out.. and a +20%, which is only useful if you have a LARGE hold to begin with.
Personally, I go for the water-tanks (25 water-fuel), makes it nice to always have 25 even with a max-hold of Explore-loot. the Records hold (I think the extended gun decks +7 guns is same-slot), is good, for spies, and for explorer as records help with exploring.
I just recently bought the Spear Cutter, which is now probably my favorite. Green movement is infinity (0.0000), red is about .9 Hold means I can explore and harvest (and loot) to my heart's content. I also have the weapons-cabinet (+25 weap) and Advanced Bridge System. Altogether it makes this ship a beast for hunting, blockading and overall exploring, letting me go cross-system on one fill-up with room to spare in the hold for anything I loot from attackers. While the guns are a bit low for a solid attacker, with good tactics, piloting and the upgrade boosts, I don't have a problem. (given, haven't fought an alien yet)
16 hull 16 armor 32 engine (37 with the titan components) 42 sails (46 with sail command probe) 44 crew 140 hold (!!!!!!) 16 guns (23 with the extended gun decks) 7 Torps
Personally I prefer the lower-crew ships. Less crew means easier to get infinite movement on green 'dots' of space. Also, since I rarely duel/board (torp then aimed engine), I don't need a lot of back-up there from crew in melee as it were. The gun improvements and engines means that I control ranges. (and 25+ piloting skill) This ship DID cost a pretty penny. With trading in a Rim Freighter (Rank with planet-govt was 20), and starport expansion rumor.. I had sails and engines, and about 30 water/fuel... but couldn't pay for the extra guns I needed after the upgrade. had about 35 credits left. Just took a quick explore nearby and that paid for the rest.

chromeada:
Ok, you are right. I'd been looking previous, and don't remember seeing it, but I made a point to check, and yes it does. Serious facepalm over here. My apologies to all.
EDIT/UPDATE
And color my face red. Tried once more, DV Military Officer. Made it with about 1 week to go.

Well, right now on the DV smuggler, I have about 8K money.. I think that should be enough for at least lvl 4.
Is there a chart anywhere for costs per promotion level?
EDIT/ADD Ok, looks like it might be money. I finally got to rank 4...
I do repeat, however, is there a chart or the like to show what the ranks cost? A ways back I paid attention, and I don't recall them being more than $2k or so per. Now it seems closer to $10k

I'd be happy with any help. I've now run in to this problem multiple times, where I have the rep to get the rank, but I can't promote in the palace
Overall, I've tried for this achievement probably at least 20 times in the last week or two (deleting char when i'm past the point of being able to get it). I have gotten it before on a previous phone, but the transfer between phones didn't work so now going through and redoing them all.

Ok, I've tried a few more times. Both with Javat Explorer and Cadar Military Officer. No luck still. And to boot, I've had a similar issue with the Cadar promotions. 45 rep, could only get lvl 3 promotion.

As kind of an add-on to the bug. One of the classes (merchant?), has a discount for buying ships. In the past, I noticed that the discount is shown in terms of how much it will cost, but then cannot buy the ship anyway saying I have too little money when I actually try.

Also Cory, a bit of a bug, semi-related to this. 'Take All', both for looting ships AND Exploring/Harvesting. If you have the various special-cargo slots (~25 record/electronics/weapons/water-fuel)... When your cargo hits 'full', the specials do not kick-in. And there is the toast saying 'weapons could not be taken, cargo full' or the like, even when the specialist-cargo is empty. When doing an Explorer, or smuggler, I try to get all of the above eventually.
It's annoying when I have a ~50 cargo ship, with the +25 records/electronics/weapons/etc that takes my full cargo up to almost 150.. But then after 'take all' I still need to go do each one separate.

Ummm, not sure if this is a bug, or just my unlucky a$$.... Demanding, Cadar, Military, Picky Beggar. I have 57 rep with Cadar. However, all I can do is get military promotion to 2... I thought rep-> promotion every 9 rep.. so I should be able to get rank 6. date 61.36 ..
Cory, help?

Version: Star Traders RPG Elite v4.3.23 Phone: HTC Rezound. Android v2.3.4
Bug) When choosing 'rearm' option after defeating an enemy vessel, the torpedos do not increase on my ship (there is room) Current ship: Spy Cruiser with possible 22 torps I defeated a few ships recently, one still had 15 torps. I chose rearm (I had 8 torps left) and I still had only 8 after. I recall this has happened previously, but now it's getting kind of annoying, so I posted

Ok, got it finally... Used Star Trader and Aperio Caliga. Managed to just get 8 or 9 'delivery' contracts from spice halls and all. Only semi-bug is that I didn't see the award pop-up, and when I did the 'Record Exploits', it never showed up either. It DID, however, show up in the awards received once I'd checked a few 'weeks' after I'd gotten it
