Side-note here: Looks like the balancing may have helped some. as a lower-level runner (less than 50 total xp) finally made my first successful save on Brutal for a dome collapse (ran like hell). It gets a bit tiring when early on and your skills suck that EVERY single crumble/leak means 1-3 mental/health damage EVERY time. Especially on Brutal where money is tight and it's hard to keep enough medkits on you for all those 'just in cases'

I'm running in to this as well. Big issue if one of the best ways to lose heat gives it to you instead.
And I did check rumors. There are NO 'heat waves' in any zones.

I've done a few starts lately with 'MnB' and two out of the three times, when doing the vault-run (grab smuggled stuff and blow pillar) I have had the screen go black for the 'vault ambush' event that happens. It doesn't go to the story/chat screen ('damn, i walked in to a trap!'). I have to home-out and then reload game.

Except doing MnB, you don't get King's chip anyway.
But good to know that the Streets do have some use to them. As I said, usually just use them as scapegoats.

1) 'allied message/package delivery'. I like this one a lot, but perhaps guarantee some kind of combat of an enemy trying to stop the delivery. Already have encounters like that 'we know you're delivering this package, we'll pay you not to' (I've seen this one). - we'll pay you to not complete. - take money sizeable rep loss with the two allied groups. - Negotiate way out of it. Per/intim - +1 xp. nothing else. - Lie... Per/Nego (with modifier perhaps) - get paid, BIG drop in rep with non-allied faction (and perhaps heat doesn't drop for finishing job) - Kill them.
2) Zone - anywhere Location - Near/at Data Terminal When - Any time. On-job or off Job Limit - one variation can count as a 'press' mission.
#1 - passing by a data terminal see a mind-fried hacker. He stayed in too long and the defenses burned him out. - stim/med heal - usual int/elec check. - +1 xp if succ. possible get hacker runner. Pos/neg rep. pos/neg heat potential. - Report to local reps - rep boost with local faction (potentially rep loss with a different faction as they find out what data he got?) Some money - Hack his computer to get data for yourself. int/hacking - gain random faction paydata. Heat boost. possible local enforcer attack - Set-up for hit. - dex/stealth to escape #1.5 - off of 'hack his computer' - local enforcers show up. options to fight, run, or they want to buy data.
#2 - wounded hacker. Press mission to escort him to safety. - Encounter with enforcers. - defend hacker - local faction rep loss - give up hacker for money (heat boost. local faction rep boost) #3 - wounded hacker. Press mission to deliver paydata/package - guaranteed encounter 'we know you have XX data. we'll pay you to give it to us' +rep local faction, -rep random faction (whoever hacker was with) - Keep paydata for yourself. +heat - sell to owner faction. +rep with faction - sell to datahound - perhaps larger rep boost/loss with factions in question (seller and owner) - Potential 'hit' at location you are sent to deliver data to.

Fennian, KH and Los V all tend to have missions against them and it's easy to rack up neg rep with them. I've gone looking for a Streets HQ, but can't seem to find one (MnB suggests talk to all gang bosses, so figured I'd give a try). Is there a ladder for them? And if so, is it worthwhile?
Starting out from MnB Los V rep is horrendous, but the weapon, safehouse and one or two other ladder perks are worth turning them around IMO.
But Streets, has always just seemed like a scapegoat target. Am I wrong?

I've been wondering things like that myself. Even just the 'hazard' of the dome cracking 'encounters' and with hard armor i still take damage EVERY time. Even once I get body to 9 (10 w/ cyber), ath at 5 or 6, and dex at around 6. And that's on a normal-ish to harder difficulty.

I do find I keep finding the same nodes for some reason. As I said before, mainly moon club and 'droid'. After a point of trying to find other areas, I keep getting kicked back elsewhere.
One thing I do notice is that I almost always start with DT*T almost every hack.

My guess would be the minor but possibly potent differences.
Power 6 compared to 5. (yes, penetration is a bit less), higher accuracy, lower AP cost for shooting. While technically you can get less shots (no real way to do multiples), it's more of a sniper rifle.
One thing the Trese bros might want to do is perhaps add in a higher crit-chance for sniper rifles.

Custom difficulty, but likely about average. Not ready for the really high ones yet, but a 'good' economy.
fallen: Part of the problem is even my best data-run I only get maybe 3-5 Mp for KH.. and that's a good 5-15 min (real time) doing the hacking. So, at the moment the hacking paydata/money vs time spent doing it is... poor at the best.
ARE the only Fennian and Los V data-hounds in backrooms somewhere? I've never found anyone to pawn their data to.
As for who I have? I do have a number of MARS ones, and I'm considering trying to run against them.
No, haven't done the data wars yet. may look in to that shortly. So far the capture/kill missions (and some escort) ones net FAR more cash, but yes, are far more dangerous. I've gotten escort ones (after additional negotiation) up to almost 3K or so. But the kill/capture are even easier as can use a whimp like quarter-speed to get to where I need to go from a high-rep zone. do the attacks and either rest to burn heat, or use Jennings to get back out and rack up a bit faster.

Your negotiate skill now effects paydata prices. You should have done this hacking _last week_ when even the people who couldn't negotiate their way to the open end of a paper bag were still getting top money ... Negotiation is at 6, and even before the last update or two, never got much money. And simply never got much paydata to get paid for in the first place.

A couple questions:
1) I have about 20mp data on Los V and Fennian, but no Data Hounds to sell it to. Are these mainly back-room guys or am I just unlucky with V-chips?
2) 'hacking is best way to make money' ... I've not found this to be true so far. I just can't seem to get enough to make more than ~200 yen per payoff. And for the amount of time it takes + that you get no xp, seems pretty poor. So far I've been trying to focus on K-Horizon as EVERYONE seems to want their data, but can't seem to find that much for them. Usually best I can do is old-boston, moon-club, droid. but I seem to find very little paydata and not many places to go for it. (given, I know the matrix is still being fleshed out.
3) Something I'm missing?
Btw, Dataport rating 3, hacking is 3 or 4, Fairlight (rating 5 comp). So while not a top-line hacker, I'm not badly off. But just seems like it's a lot of hassle for minimal payoff. And yes, I sell the KH data to BraveStar mainly so far (about 80+ rep) and still get poor money

For maximum fun, I would like to select the jobs I want to do from a list. It would be ok if the connector sold jobs to higher ranked knights -- or at least those with bigger computers in bundles -- If you want that nice lucrative job delivering to Mars, you also have to take this message to Camden Square, because I need to get rid of it -- but the sense of controlling your own destiny grows when you can pick your own jobs out of a list. Perhaps a list to choose from once you hit a certain Rep level? 50-75 perhaps. Or a balance of Total XP Earned + Rep might be better? ie: fresh CK to the area, no one really trusts him as he has no rep PERIOD. Unknown quantity. So even if he does well with Los V, not like Mars will give him the pick of the litter of jobs off the bat once he 'graduates' up from the South end. Even Los V or KH won't. but by the time he's rep 50 or so with Los V, s/he should be able to walk in going 'I want this type' for them. Of course, going to Mars or Yakashima when experienced, no name for them, so until s/he makes a name for themselves at a corp, then maybe they can start picking. Or perhaps a list when a VIP room one. But if so, need to make it harder to get in. Not just 3-5 rep allowing you in a VIP room

A way to stim/heal a team member would be nice.
This is key because when you first get any of them, their stats make them fodder. Especially by semi-mid game when you're doing BraveStar, Blue Ox or the like and just getting from one place to another, or just completing multiple missions in one zone will risk getting assault-squads on you.
I've got my CK able to handle up to maybe Yak assault squads, perhaps even KH ones now almost solo. But aside from running truly crap Los V missions for hours straight to build up XP for them, any new-hire runner simply cannot survive anything above Los V/Streets/Fennian squads without some extreme luck. Even when I stim/heal them up to 7-9/10-11 HP/MP as soon as I hire them (between headlozz, hyper-v and a medikit)
And if one gets winged in even a lower-level combat (say low-end dogs or gangers with uzi's) As using items uses up so much of their already-minimal AP, I can use a 9-heal Medi-pack, and have the next turn a lucky set of shots kill him anyway. I'd rather let my semi-tank CK sit still a round or two to heal the guy and let him run, than basically have to write-off almost every new runner without baby-handling them for a long time even with a 3+ job comp

Ok,since no max-gear system is in yet (though i do try to pare it down), some kind of sorting or at least improved setup for inventory would be nice.
1) MULTIPLE names for same type of medi-kit. I've seen at least 4-6 names for a simple 'raise HP to 7' medikit. Two types of crammers (crammers / cram shots) Bulks up inventory badly at times. Especially when they're simply useful like a 7-hp medikit
2) I get a new V-Chip and I need to truly SEARCH through inventory sometimes to find it. Sometimes it's at the top, sometimes it's near the bottom. And yes, other times, just somewhere in the middle. Rather annoying. Same for Safehouse Keys.
2a) A system so that if you have a key/contact already, it's listed.
2b) Along these lines, at a pawn-shop the order is sometimes all over the place. ie: medi kit, medi kit, stimpak, medi kit medi kit, crammer, medi kit, crammer, medi kit, medi kit, stim pak ...... etc
3) A way to outright dump inventory you don't want: packages that were failed to be delivered for some reason/v-chips for ppl you already have/Crappy gear that sells for 'pennies' at a pawn-shop and not worth the multiple-clicks to sell/etc/etc/etc
4) A tab-system for types of items. Armor, Weapons/Ammo, Medical/drugs, Other (keys, v-chips, etc)
5) and of course one that's been listed elsewhere, but worth a bump: Sell/Buy/Dump/Use multiples with one click.
