That party has the two last maps to go yet, so they will jump a bit more upward. They already have max gold, so no added score for me in that regard.

All the discussion of high scores is getting me back into the mood to play given all the changes.
I bet I could best my current score on iOS with all the crafting changes. I think I’m still at the top leaderboard spot on iOS at 2.166 B.
I also want to finish my Vraes to late game content as well as make an LS Vincent a destroyer with critical damage to test the extreme of LS/EoSt.

I’m all for more spell accuracy given the shear need to consistently hit multiple enemies for impact. I think this most impacts kyera and Kjartan.
However I also have found reasonable success with their ranged attacks generally. With Acc pools of a 15s and generally 50+ regular dice both my kyera and Kjartan hit pretty consistently. Note, I usually stack multiple -dodge curses, usually 2-3. 3 on key targets resulting in -15 to -25 dodge to the enemies.
In battles where firestorm or banishment shine against summoners, I often would hit 5-10 enemies per shot which seemed reasonable. It is actually hard to get to the upper ranged because 15-20 enemy bunches are rare.
My bigger beef with spells is that damage doesn’t pace with AP powered weapon attacks when getting crits and crit dam.
My leading party uses the following attacks.
Kincaid DS - dam 39-148 with 48% crit, 120% crit dam, 7 attacks and hitting groups of enemies, plus assorted elemental that is boosted by crit dam
Selen - PS 45-220 dam (maxed special talent), 51% crit, 220% crit dam, 3 attacks, group attacks
Kjartan, Imm 76-249, 12% crit, some amount of crit dam from the new patch, 2 attacks
Kyera, banishment 93-286, 14% crit, 1 attack.
Ranged spells are powerful but really more of an opening salvo to soften enemies a touch while physical attacks clear the field with sheer damage delivery.
With enemy hp at the end game scaling into the thousands, spell attacks kinda took a back seat once crit and crit dam could be achieved at such high levels with low ap attacks.
Edit - I know this doesn’t address total character design. The caster characters have curses, etc. and are supports to enhance the party defensively or weaken enemies. The game design works beautifully. Kyera and Kjartan were never intended to be damage dealers exactly like the main offensive four (Vraes, Kincaid, Selen, tamilin). Vincent is an exception I think with LS and EotS and ability to get high criticals and a 2 ap spell.

So, it is intended to subtract from Ranged defensive dice on both the strong dice pool And the stat related dodge pool? Got it. Not that I expect Vraes to dodge much but this makes it more so I haven’t used heavy armor in so long that the mechanics are new to me.

Just a quick clarification needed on - evasion since I am using Vraes with heavy armor.
I have a Vraes with 24 strong dodge, -5 evasion, 4 dex, and 3 regular dodge.
My final display of ranged defense lists 19s + 4. It seems that the -5 evasion is subtracted from my strong dodge pool as expected since evasion is a strong dice effect. However, the stat dodge on the display screen also lists -2 (3-5 evasion). Thus, it seems that a negative evasion penalty is applied twice in this case for ranged attacks.
Is that how - evasion is intended? Is it a display bug? Do I understand evasion correctly? Maybe the opening combat text could add a few lines to address evasion specifically?
Edit- My melee defense includes the 3 stat dodge and us not affected by the evasion penalty. So evasion is restricted to Ranged dodge effects only.
My Selen with positive evasion accounts for the added as expected, ie adding to the strong dodge pool for ranged.

matrimFor the max xp, sparing vlotgar may be the better xp route. A major battle at Reis Lodge plus a future battle to slay a god which usually gives good xp. Killing him may limit xp options unless other content is added to compensate.

A minor note. Kjartan hit level 57 and received no bonuses. Is this intended at this level or something to do with his new status?
Edit- staying at the inn indicated he had a talent point. Must be a display issue on the character screen?

Before. The Warlords and most enemies were on the mid-60s. Lvl 64 as I recall. I think this party is better optimized now and would have done better. Hard to say by how much until I bring another party through.
Basically defenseless? I would have hated to see the originals. Essentially, I would stick CA and EA on everthing and then pray for Selen to stick PS on them and then hope for a massive critical from Kincaid. Took forever for the warlords and trolls. Even the shaman laughed at me.
Having done the next battle with ratkin, it was easy as cake with all my characters hitting. The orcin were jarring compared to the rest of Ep 4.

Yay! Finally getting a chance to jump back into the game.
Phew. I am rusty. Good thing I have a test party to explore first.
I just completed my first battle in Reis Lodge, having seen Vlotgar’s acts. A pity I saved him in this game.
One major comment, the defense values of enemies are still really high and hard to hit. Two orcin warlords nearly had me in tears of boredom. My Kincaid and Selen, high Acc characters were something under 30% hit rates. Don’t even ask about kyera and Kjartan. This is with max CA, EA, FU, and PS, max skills/attributes, and Acc equipment, plus high level talents. I actually returned to town and am rethinking all my equipment and respecs to adjust play styles. My poor Kjartan’s firestorm was useless. A lucky cast would maybe hit two enemies and most likely whiff, a sad fate that made him sit out the battle.
Edit- In town and realizing how old this party is. It predates expanding skills to 20. Rejiggering equipment and thinking about party respec. My newer parties will have made better use of planning and crafting. Also, Immolation may cause much more dam late game than firestorm. Still, I do enjoy lighting up a field of enemies.

Interesting. Makes sense, but I wouldn't have guessed from how the quest plays out.
I'll respond later with a spoilered response bar.

I am definitely curious about different storylines and how they play out. Maybe spoiler the info?

While it may appear that way, that is not actually the link. There is a cause and effect between Hagathrun and Nikolai's lives, but it is not "one or the other." I am very curious as to the factor for whether Nikolai lives or dies. In my two parties in Ep 4, one has Nikolai die. Quest text says later lineage will fade from the world. Confirmed that Nikolai dies after seeing his spirit. The other party has text that we became allies with Nikolai and hagathrun will watch over his lineage. This party is stuck in the necomancers sanctuary. It also has text that says Nikolai is dead in the quest log. Given the bugs this quest had, I am curious as to what determines the path. My guess is the order of erghana and hagathrun conversations that determines how the party relates to Nikolai. I can only test quest options on a limited number of playthroughs.

NathanGholla outlook does have a level cap. Enemies were lvl 35. Char lvls were 34 through the route there and siege. Gholla should be done before other Ep 3 content.

Haven't had a chance to look yet but applause for the effort. Neither matrim or I own this thread. Everything is s community effort, and we just try to give information that maybe useful to the community.
I like the split as koda was overlooked in the original thread as the focus was solely on max xp. This will help people be more aware of story choices.
