Please! I just spent like 15 minutes outfitting and tweaking all the different designs I have for the first time, I went back to the map screen, and unthinking, closed the game without ending the turn. Rrrrrrr. Everything completely lost. Can we have an autosave after we go back to the navigation screen from the ship creator? Please?

En1gma - can you explain your order of operations? Did you Save the ship design? How did you exit the ship designer / game?

fallen- I did save the design, but after I backed out to the nav screen, I hit the home button and later forced closed the program without going back in and ending the turn, effectively erasing everything I had just done.

Why? Something that takes so much time to do should have a way to preserve the work you do. 20 minutes of work gone.... I know I need to hit the end turn button, but it got lost when I had something else to do and had to minimize the game...

What do you do in a turn that you wouldn't want saved? It's not like you can undo a turn anyway...

I have added #4X-2898 for this, but I am not sure if it can be resolved based on the way the turns are saved and processed. Cory will either close it or leave it open.

Or if a save mid-turn isn't possible, perhaps a toast to remind the player to end the turn could be implemented?

I have to admit I like it how it is now, because if I accidentally delete a design, or hit a wrong button some where, I know I can just close the game and re open it to get it back (eg. reload turn)... The auto save would make more sense if there were any options to load games, which there isn't, it is a small price to pay, and I've lost designs like that too, but I'm not complaining. Just make sure you intend to end your turn when you go play.
At best I could lobby that a save turn button could be a decent idea, for when we have 30+ world's to go through and a 5 minute break isn't enough to run a turn in...

What do you do in a turn that you wouldn't want saved? It's not like you can undo a turn anyway... Oh nothing, except... your ships can blow up, your attacks can miss, you can accidentally hit the wrong planetary upgrade going into bankruptcy, you can move ships the wrong way, you can... Turns can be undone by going to the main menu. Once a turn is saved mid-game, it can't be undone. I suppose they could add a 'save game' button to voluntarily save game mid-turn, but like AA said, just press end turn.

@starfixer- I'm not saying that the game needs to save after everything you do. Just after ship design. On the flip side, make sure you don't mis-press buttons, or make a mistake, like forgetting to press the end-turn button . I don't think that this was an unreasonable request, and it's on the wish list, it wasn't a demand and I hope it didn't come off as such.

I'm afraid that there isn't much we can do for this in ST 4X. Lessons learned for next game!

There's nothing wrong with making requests on Wish Lists. In fact, I've probably made more requests than most others on the forum. I just don't agree with the necessity. Just because I disagree though doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with requesting, nor does it mean that the request itself is wrong. My apologies if my response was rude. I have a sarcastic sense of humor, and sometimes that sarcasm can rub off the wrong way. And if it makes you feel better, I've spend over a half hour on designs before forgetting to end turn. But when I load it up the next day, I remember the designs I decided to use so making it takes significantly less time.
