Tested vs three ais on every world of all three over more than 70 turns in easy game, one ai every world for 40+ turns in tutorial mode, but only managed 4 of 9 worlds for 25 turns in hard mode so far.
If you put ships in all eight squares around a xeno world it deploys no ships at all from that world.
Might want to let them launch ships two squares out if all eight adjacent are full.
Android is, Verizon tablet qmv7a

I would say the AI has lost the battle for that world =)

I would say the AI has lost the battle for that world =) Level 1 fighter Fast reactor 1 Captain: repair 1, pilot 4, stealth 5 Ship: durability 5, shield 5, evasion 13, sensor 3 Armor none Weapons: valiant light cannon, phoenix def pod Aux systems: none Training: barrage Highest tech needed: fighters 1 Cost: 17 cp & $101; maintain $31/turn Needs average of 6+ rounds for 1 level 3 xeno mass driver ship to destroy this ship. This ship needs no fuel and can blockade worlds at any distance from the player's colonies. You don't need to even fire on xeno fleets, just move past them and take up position around their worlds. Once the ai cannot build any ships, kill the existing fleet while it is shooting at these guys not your soldiers. You can easily replace any casualties because they are so cheap. Cost to blockade 1 xeno world: 136 cp, $808, & $248/turn This seems unintendedly easy But if you're saying it's valid, then *insert villainous laugh*

I think this is intentional. With the entire planet being blocked from every direction, the xeno won't deploy ships from that planet because that would be suicide.

Tutorial mode is a very easy map. Try playing the rim, 100 x 100, with 3 AIs, on impossible difficulty. You'll notice many ships coming at you when you invade a planet, and an immediate retribution response with ships coming at your planets in all directions

Notice my first post. I did this on the degla extreme map vs three ais on normal.
And I'm currently doing it again on the same map in hard vs 1 of three while slowly bombing his worlds. Even though I can't harm his ships (these guys have zero gun skill and the weakest gun in the game), he can't hurt mine either and isn't making any more while I am.

The same happens to you... except instead of stopping you from making ships the game just crashes learned that the hard way

Oops, easy not normal. But still not tutorial, and the degla extreme is 128x64, its not a small map.

Thanks for the info, I have added #4X-2903 to the long term roadmap to address the behavior of surrounded worlds.

fallenPerhaps surrounded worlds could gain: A) A defensive penalty (or bonus) B) A defensive priority for the Xeno fleet

Normally when I try invading a planet, I get attacked by ships from other colonies, not the colony I am attempting to invade. This could just be the specific AIs that I am dealing with however, or the high difficulty could be scaling the percentage of ships from different planets.

My point was the cost and techno!ogy to lock out every single ai world at once, is very low.

I'm looking for ways to solve it -- I doubt that very many people are using this.

That makes the cost pretty gnarly, and would also prevent humans from crashing per the post a few up.
