I thought I would give the free iOS version of HoS a try and so far I am really enjoying it. Great story telling and the attention to detail shows that this wasn't just thrown together.
I'm very slow at these kinds of games and it's taken me awhile but I finally got to a camp where I can use points to upgrade my characters. I'm being so careful about it that it's been two days so far and I'm still not done deciding how to use them.
But it's got me thinking. I'm not sure what the Elite version offers over the free version but I want to support the Trese Brothers and I know I won't be disappointed. However, I've grown attached to the characters I have (we've gone through so much together already), and I don't want to just start over. I also don't want to do IAP but would rather go Elite.
So is there some way to transfer my characters from the free version to the Elite version using some kind of tool like iFunBox or whatever?
Thanks!

markz - Elite and Free are the exact same game, except for the purchasing method for the story chapters. Free now includes a "Buy Entire Story" IAP which you can purchase for $4 and is completely equivalent to what you get in Elite. In Elite, you'll find the same $2 IAPs for the alternate characters. My suggestion would be to stay in Free, use Buy Entire Story and enjoy the rest of the game! There is no way to transfer groups between the two apps.

I would also add that you shouldn't be afraid to go Elite and start over. I know you're feeling attached to your characters now, but if you're only at the first campsite where you can level up you're really not that far in. The same characters will be waiting for you in elite and you'll probably come out of Redhill in better shape than your first team. Those first groups feel so precious. I still have mine saved, but the irony is that I don't play them because I didn't know what I was doing with their talent allocation and now I have other groups that are soooo much better and more fun play.

I totally agree with contributor. I lost my first party in an app upgrade mishap that trashed all my original saved games (there were only two of them. lol) and I was devastated initially, but I'm actually thankful now. It gave me a chance to go through again and correct all the mistakes I had made with talent allocation, giving me a party that was much more viable and fun than I had before.

Oh and fallen you missed one more very important point. They are not the exact same game. Elite has that fancy gold border around the icon and non-elite doesn't. If you're concerned about it matching your other TB icons you definitely want to go elite.

Yeah, I noticed mine has no gold border, but I can't upgrade now - I've invested too much in the free version Shame the game can't tell if you've bought IAP's and then change border from silver to gold!

OK, I'm tending towards the Elite version then.
However, I noticed that the version in iTunes is 3.1.3 but the forum says the latest version is 3.1.9.
I already have concerns about updates making previous games no longer work, and after reading what mrsarfa posted I think I'm going to wait until 3.1.9 is in the app store.

markz - I should mention that it was a weird fluke that lost my saved games. Nobody else except poor me reported any problems with that particular update. Edit: I should also mention that Cory Trese was awesome about trying to troubleshoot and help me restore/recover my saved games. Another reason why TB rock!

markz - Apple has about a week long review process for all updates, so they continually lag behind Android (a few hours). You should have no issues with updates. And you will receive them often, as its a Trese Brothers game.

All saved games are perpetually compatible with all versions of the game. We have never had an update that broke existing saved games in over 1,000 releases. We promise, that won't happen. =) Regarding Apple, they just take a long time to publish updates.

OK, cool.
I'd been pretty busy but I thought I'd just jump into my current free game last night and continue a little from the camp just for some quick fun.
However, after some text saying we'd finally escaped a screen came up asking for $4.00. My only options were to buy or go back to the camp.
Is the free version just the starting dungeon?

markz - yes, you are right at the edge of the free version. You can choose to buy Episode 1 only ($1) or All Episodes ($4). All Episodes is the same offer you get from Elite.
