I didn't want to say the Oracle of Delphi for Kyera, but that's what I'm going with.

The entire game is a story being told by a very old man to some children around a fire.
The storyteller never needs to give them last names, the children know them all from previous tellings of the tale.

Ambrosius Aurelianus for KJ? His quest for his rightful seat on the throne led his rival Vortigern to retreat to a fortification in the mountains. During the siege, the fortress was struck by a bolt of lightning, and everyone inside perished in the ensuing blaze. Sorry. Not quite. You're on the right track, though! For Vincent, I'm fairly certain that you made a play on words concerning the Istari from Lord of the Rings. Correct! I didn't want to say the Oracle of Delphi for Kyera, but that's what I'm going with. And another! You're on a roll!

It's Hood, isn't it? Just mis-pronounced.

It's Hood, isn't it? Just mis-pronounced. Correct. In the original middle English tale, it was actually spelled "Hode." A Gest of Robyn Hode

Thanks! Three left. KJ should be relatively easy. Fyona is harder and, I think, Selen is probably the hardest of all, unless you are intimately familiar with a certain video game...

Is Ambrosius something to do with Merlin?

Is Ambrosius something to do with Merlin? Yes! Correct! The original Merlin's full name is Merlin Ambrosius and is an amalgamation of two previous historical and legendary figures, Merlinus Caledonensis and Ambrosius Aurelianus. Only two left!

I'm going on a trip for the next four days, so I'll probably be less present than I usually am. Here are some hints to keep you busy while I'm gone:
1) Fyona is a Paladin 2) I already gave you a hint for Selen. Something about a video game...

mrsarfa - On a whim (that was very much based on your hint), I wikipedia-ed the word Paladin and 'lo and behold, the first line under etymology, "The earliest recorded instance of the word paladin in the English language dates to 1592, in Delia (Sonnet XLVI) by Samuel Daniel." I bow to your ability to pull great references. I am, however, at a loss for Selen. When you mentioned video game, my first thought went toward Metroid, but her name wasn't Miles.

Great job, hobiecat! Correct! Only Selen is left. Let's see if I can give you another hint that won't give things away entirely. The video game I mentioned in my hint is from 2007.
