After a battle I asses the status of each party member by clicking on the character face.
I may see that the HP or SP levels of some members may be low so I want to use some potions.
However, I cannot remember what potions I have so I have to leave "member managment" screen to go back to the game screen and then click items.
I try to remember how many of what kind of potions I have and then leave the items screen to go back to the game screen and then go back into the member management screen.
Knowing what potions I have I try to determine who needs some HP or SP now and who can wait.
So I want to give some SP to the mage. Now I leave the member management screen to go back to the game screen. Ensure that I have the mage selected. Go into the items screen and then use a portion.
Now I want to determine who needs the last HP or SP potions. So I leave the item screen and go back to the game screen and go into the member management screen.
I compare the members and after deciding that the thief needs the HP the most I leave the member management screen to go back to the game screen. Ensure I have the thief selected and then go into the items screen and then forget if I was going to give her HP or SP. So then I go back again.
TLDR: Let me get to items from the member management screen please.

Have you tried using the character list for this?
The intention is that you open that to examine all 4 character's HP and SP.

markz - thanks for providing the details on your UI pattern. I've added this to our list to see if we can put a link there!

Yes, but personally I need to see the actual numbers which that list doesn't provide. I just wanted say one more thing about this. Without knowing the exact number of points that a party member is down in SP or HP then I don't know if I should have them consume a potion providing 60 points or 120 points worth of restoration.

Yup, like Markz, I often have to go into the char portrait to do some quick brain mathematics on how much HP I have lost and need to top up on. The main UI bar graphs are great indicators of health and SP for battle, but you don't know if 1/5th of the bar lost = 60 HP or 200 because Vraes and Tami often have rather different amounts of total HP

I was thinking about this more as I was playing and thinking that on the main UI bar graphs even if there were some numbers that indicate how far down a member is then that would help to decide who gets what potion.
For example:
The fighter has: -80/-10
This indicates to me that he is a candidate for a health potion that heals around 80 but does not yet need any SP potion.
However, the mage has: -0/-190
I can quickly see that the mage can use a high powered SP boost.
Just a thought.

This would be great! Even if it was as simple as adding the selected character, their hp/max hp and their sp/max sp to the very bottom bar of the item interface- this way you can see the totals right there... If you wanted toget fancy, there could even be a button to switch characters within the item screen... I don't know how it would look on smaller screens, but my HTC one has plenty of room for something basic.
