I've been playing CK and Star Traders for awhile now on my Motorola Backflip (2.1 Eclair) and just recently upgraded to the Motorola Atrix (2.3 Gingerbread). Is there any way to bring my saved games to the new phone? I'm using the same sd card from the Backflip in the Atrix. I've already installed CK on the Atrix and the sd was not wiped after removing it from the Backflip. Saved games arent there. I still have access to the Backflip and saved games are still there. I know since 2.2 Froyo and on there is the app to sd option but since the Backflip is running 2.1 I dont have that option. Thank you in advance with any help.
Also I'm running the elite versions of Star Traders and CK, if that makes a difference.

Okay with STRPG the bad news is that unfortunately there is no current ability built into game to save/restore captains and/or unlocks between phones. The good news is that you get to relive your greatest accomplishments all over again - it's a great way to see just how skillful your captain has become. Prove to the world that it was no fluke that you achieved Hardcore Elite award and in fact that captain has NEVER traded in his beloved first ship.
For CK it's a better story - there is some functionality Cory's put in that supports character migration between devices. However, since I'm too poor to get a new phone, I've not tried to see how that feature works. There are others here that could help out in this regard though.

You probably have the save files on the phone itself, try to see if there is a way to save to sd card, if not you might be able to buy a data cable and try to transfer it over manually. Goodluck chummer

I forgot to mention both phones are rooted and I have file transfer capabilities. So if anyone knows the location and name of the save file that would help alot.

oh the files are all in the /data/data/*/databases/ folder.
If you copy over everything in /databases/ you are done.
For example, /data/data/com.corytrese.games.startraders/databases/data
or
/data/data/com.tresebrothers.games.cyberknights/databases/core /data/data/com.tresebrothers.games.cyberknights/databases/secrets_1 /data/data/com.tresebrothers.games.cyberknights/databases/secrets_*
if you copy those over into a new install (overright the ones that come with the game) your saves, awards, etc will all be saved.

Hey Cory, I think I have a potential solution for the fact that you don't want to change the privs and components of STRPG, which would have otherwise allowed you to copy user details from one phone to another. What you COULD do is create a new free app that does a couple of functions: 1) Capture. It captures the data response #4, bundles it into a package and encrypts it. Note this capture includes any game data from any Trese Bros game. Google/amazon account details are also captured in the package (used for validation purposes). 2) Restore. For restore, it first validates that the game data/package relates to the user of the new phone. For example, if the old phone's STRPG game was tied to fred@gmail.com, then the new phone will need to also have STRPG tied to fred@gmail.com. Assuming the account credentials match, then the current game directories are over-written with the new game data. 3) Optional. The Glurp flag on export. Here is something I prepared earlier (from a different thread) Requirement 3: There should be a flag (eg "glurp")in the game settings that gets changed from (0) to (1) on any export operation. Requirement 3b: glurp should not be able to be reset by the end-user. Requirement 3c: During any import operation, if glurp = 1, then only the unlocked awards portion of the data file shall be imported. This would mean that you cannot re-import a player save file into the game to bypass the permanent death component of level difficulty. Read more: startradersrpg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=userrecentposts&user=slayernz#ixzz1UPdOX27ZSO ... in summary, This would get you the ability to have a tool that grabs and exports specific game data It will import said game data to a new phone easily It will not allow users to share captain/unlock files with others due to credential matching Optionally It will not circumvent permanent death. Only those people who play your games will ever want/need this app, but it is definitely something that has been requested.

slayernz Sounds pretty good to me. I'd love to see an app like that. But I'm sure Cory is very busy right now, so when he gets time that would be a nice thing to have.

slayernz -- step #1 and #2 require a setting "sharedUserId" which must be added to the application BEFORE it is released onto the Android Market. Any developer who is unaware of this setting will not have it enabled by default (you have to manually add it to a file.) As I have noted several times, the developer is an idiot and was poorly trained. This is, of course, a painfully brilliant solution and it kills me that we're so close, yet so far away.

Thanks Cory for the location of those files. Just did it and it worked like a charm. I used es file manager and bluetoothed the files between the two phones. I had a little trouble at first with the games force closing, but realized it was my fault cause I forgot to mount the file system before copying.
