Isn't this the long place with no rest points? If so, I may skip my usual completionism, and try to get through as quickly as possible. Just stick to the road.
Would I miss anything important?
Especially since my heroes leveled up to 18 on the first fight. So now I'll be fight level 20 monsters with level 17 Talents.

Actually that level is not that huge. There's probably less than 10 fights and it's easy to return to Riven for a camp or down to the Trading Post. The next two levels going towards Brunehorn only have one campsite between them. What I usually do on the first Darkmoss level is basically skirt the top and then right side of the level until I find the shrine and campsite. Then I work backwards clearing the rest of the level and using the campsite when I need it. You don't want to head south on that map right away or you'll meet a lot of grumpy Orcin who seem unusually deep into the Underdeep.

Personally I would go slaughter house on the whole place. More exp never hurt anyone, you get acclimated to enemy levels and damages, and you won't be surprised later by random fights on a walkthrough. I never skip a fight, I don't want to fall behind in skill/att/talent points.

You can't "fall behind" as the world is always +1 to your level, but better talents/attributes definitely helps.

If you miss fights, and therefore experience, you fall behind in levels, (not worried about the enemy levels, I know they're always leveled to your own) and will be a lower level at the end of the game than those who killed every enemy in every section of every map. I can't help it, I'm a completionist here....
Not to mention the leaderboard score losses.

You can't "fall behind" as the world is always +1 to your level, but better talents/attributes definitely helps. You can, because the world is +1 to your level, but has a minimum and maximum set by the region you are in. So, you're keeping up if you are always seeing the world at +1.

The enemies I see are all +2 my level. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm playing on hard--been that way throughout this game. I think the adjuster for enemy level depends partly on the difficulty level at which you play.

tenbsmith - right, that +X is based on difficulty. But, you're still at risk of falling behind and then being min(Level+(Difficulty), Minimum Level in Area+Difficulty)

Thanks fallen, you can fall behind, but you don't have to be a completionist to keep up. Though I tend to be completionist. BTW, last time I played through this area I never went back to Riven Field for fear of conflict with the reeve. Nice to be able to go back and refuel. Evil twist would be for the gates to be closed if you had talked to the reeve and supported the new baron--would only be fair to give a warning about stocking up on potions prior to that.

So, let me count… We secured Oskahold. We entroned a new baron of Red Hill. Now, let's make some order in Riven Field, shall we?
