Is it intentional that colonizing a planet causes the turn to end immediately? If so, why? I don't think this is mentioned anywhere in the documentation, and it took me a few games to realize it was happening. It's a real problem at the beginning of the game.
Also, sometimes asteroids covered by fog of war aren't revealed even when a ship moves right next to them.

Yes, it is intentional that colonizing a world ends the turn, which is why you should wait until there is nothing more you want to do during the turn to colonize.
I am unsure about whether the astroid fog is intentional or not.

MTKnife - you can read this rule in the game, it is stated on the Colonize screen

It clearly tells you, that when you Colonize that the turn ends then.

I don't think its in the rules, but in the tutorial it explains that the extreme resources and effort required to colonize a planet will end your turn. Its best to do as the last thing you do for a turn for that reason.

As otgers have stated, it's there in the pop-up text every time you colonize

As the OP said, I've failed to include this in the help documentation. I'll work on that, as well as improving the Colonization pop-up.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks, Cory. I paid attention next time I saw the screen, and I realize now what confused me: the sentence "Colonization will end this turn" can be read in two different ways, either as "Colonization will bring the the current turn to an end" or "The process of colonization will end on the current turn." Using the "bring the current turn to an end" language might be more clear--though honestly, maybe I was the only one confused.
