Since Vraes has no natural stealth attribute I'm wondering if +stealth gear would help him not lose every encounter.
I'm also wondering if I can even get him to wear something called "Footsteps of Snow" or "Feline Paw." The shame!

I can see the blank stare as Tamilin hands him the boots and tells him to move quietly......
I do think it gives him a roll though, the mages get stealth armour, and they don't have a stealth stat...

contributor - I believe the answer is no, but I have taken #HOS-2932 to clarify the rules.

No, you cannot. For the rule to trigger, the character must have at least 1 Stealth skill before effects are applied.

Thanks, any chance you'd consider a rethink on that rule?

Anything is possible, but at this time it isn't a high priority. This rule may be pretty key to Kincaid being special. We'll chat about it at some point, on the list.

Cory Trese- I had a thought about this that could be a cool adjustment to the stealth mechanic... Why not allow the stealth gear on all characters contribute to the stealth of the character leading the party? While Vraes couldn't ever sneak to save his life, perhaps a pair of quiet boots could help add to the overall stealth roll. I don't think this would break the game- think about it: when Selen or Tamilin is leading the party, it's not like they are way ahead of the group, as evidenced by the ungroup once the fight begins. Therefore the stealth lead isn't the only character moving. Having stealth gear on say Vraes or Fyona could help the entire group move more quietly, therefore improving the stealth roll for the lead. I don't think it would unbalance the game too much, because to equip stealth gear means that damage/resistance/dodge/parry/etc gear couldn't be used in the same slot... Besides, if you add this or something like it, all the +stealth gear on the mage armor can finally do something

I don't know - Vraes wearing sneaky gear would still sound like an elephant shuffling through a Christmas bauble shop. You can affix the most sneaky things to the elephant (eg multiple black cats), but let's face it, elephants can't be sneaky.

You'd be surprised, how sneaky a trained warrior could be… no matter his size. On another note, stealth mechanics could lead to a whole different stealth gameplay. When, instead of letting you a first round into fight, mobs simply go party somewhere else and your party get experience for avoiding the fight.
