I won't tell you the beginning of the story. Let's just say it was a bold move in the best traditions of "Chaaarge!!!1oneone"… Triggered the pack in front of left focus, and moments after - the pack on the right of main platform. One death and one restart later, the time's still running short. This is a boss level, and is not reset when you leave it. Now, the second entrance. The party is dropped almost in the thick of a fight, but as you could imagine, in a fight even "almost" matters. One square is such a big room to maneuver… Ethereal Anguish quickly convinced the nearest Forged Spider, that its presence is unwelcome. Same fate befell the approaching bladed cultists and a few forged pests from the left. Managed to break clean off the left pack with only minor injuries and 3 or 4 opponents dying to steel rain. Vraes takes a stand on the right, between a rock and a lava pool. Kyera takes a risky run across the bridge to curse the summoning spider. It almost works. Almost perfectly. Pests moved down south to try their luck on Vraes, and it is one more turn for them to get back, but big V. gets on the move now. EA6 on the boss and daring run right under his pincers across the bridge back to party. Tamilin and Vraes finished what is left of central assault and almost cleared out the right side. Slowly moving to the first focus on the right, but not sure how slow - the b.V. managed to cross the bridge while party was struggling to survive in multipull. Kyera's great risk paid out. The influx of pests is stopped, and the rest of them, with bridge blocked by boss (and boss blocked by Kyera, and later Tamilin), made a run around the lava pool and landed right on the welcome laps of Vraes. 150-170 HP hits of b.V.'s hammer is nothing pleasant, but manageable. The party regrouped, rebuffed and with last of cultist shooters on the right dead moved to deal with summoner. To be continued...

"Show down" is the correct word. I'm wondering, what'd happen, if I try to just kill boss? Will it go below 0 HP without dying, like with Platimum Angel on his side?

anrdaemon he just respawns at full health, I believe back where he started, and pissed off as ever. No exp for it, but it can buy you some time... When I fought him, I brought him down to 1-2 hundred HP, then just left Kincaid watching our backs, he completely negated Vurnak with Sure Parry and EA... I bring that up because it was funny as hell to turn on him after the last focus and just kill him in two hits...

I was half expecting that breaking foci would strip him from armor/resistances. Not my lucky day, it didn't.

With Vraes dashed in close, summoning spider panicked and began to attack him with everything it had, completely ignoring the laugh coming out from behind the heavy board. Stupid creature never realized the danger coming from the air, until it was too late. Leaves you wonder, if they were cut from self-preservation as well as free will. Or if one is a function of other? But now is no time to wonder. As the group cross the bridge leading to first focus, cultists start to pour from behind it. And not just cultists, but a new summoning spider show its pincers from behind the rock. Charge! Risk? Yes, but area is too open to take a stand, and with boss closing on behind, a careful brave rush seems to be a more secure choice. Vraes distract the group of cultists, allowing Kyera and Kjartan to do their job in relative peace, then falling back to the bridge. Tamilin taunt the boss and taking out any cultists that are too stupid to pursuit Vraes. In just a few turns the area is mostly cleared, short of one cultist adept and a hulking spider too stupid to make a choice between so many targets. Another quick rush, a few blade swings later, the adept is dead, and Vraes jumping up the focus platform. With a moment of hesitation, he smash the stoney and apparently hot, humming crystal with a bare fist. The crystal instantly shatter, as if it was made of sand, not solid stone, and a new strength pour into a hand that destroyed it. The victory roar echoed with a mad cry of a gravely vounded animal. Words can be heard in the cry. "How can you do that?!" The boss is stunned in deep shock, and party takes a full advantage of a distracted abomination, killing the last spider and moving on to next focus. Next focus and next troubles. But this time, the fight is even faster. The island is small, and there's no place on it to hide from sorcery and Tamilin's bow. While Vraes push the last remaining opponents to the next bridge and Kjartan take a moment to check the spoils of war, Tamilin run in to the focus and slap it with her hand. Then shake and rub it to get rid of the ashes of its shattering. Another mad cry permeating the air. But there still no time to stop. Another island, and another group of cultists pour in. They seems to all have melee weapon. The bridge is wide, and Kyera takes a stand beside Vraes.

With bridge barricaded by a pair of shields, cultists hesitated and began to doubt their advantages. However, Tamilin's bow wasn't hesitant at all. By the time cultists decided that they had advantage in numbers, it was no longer true. Quick rush to break the focus… resulted in a massive ground tremor. Earth did not react well to the energy of universe released so abruptly. "We may need to move real fast, when the job is done," - Vraes noted, and the party agreed with him. "When it is done." Onward to the next island. The monstrocity slowly closing from behind, but party remain on the move, never letting it join the fight for more than occasional hammer swing. Cultists? Magic spiders? Abominable creations? All equally fall into welcome hands of death. When the last of the outer islands came in sight, that mad rush in the very beginning of the fight, that now seems to be an eternity ago, finally paid out. No more cultists or foul spider creations are left to defend their mad god. Doesn't make him any less mad. Or more. You can't really tell it from the solid cast mask of its metal face or the button-eyes. The ground shakes constantly now. Big chunks of land break off and sink into lava. When the group gathered at the two last foci atop the central platform, the creature slowly followed, throwing prophecies of death and destruction into their indiffirent backs. Final two foci shattered, and adventurers turn their attention to the hulking abomination behind them. With no followers left to distract the group's attention, Vraes and Kyera made quick work through the hull. With a lifeless husk of a dead god touching the floor, the cavern shaked violently. The outer islands crumbled and even the edges of a main landmass fractured and lava poured in through cracks. "Quick! Run to the exit!" - urged everyone Kyera. "Grab the goods first!" - Tamilin kneel before the two sturdy lockboxes. With a moments of precision work, both locks are cracked open, and Vraes just turn them upside down, with both of them quickly grabbing what seems useful. Or, in case of Tamilin, valuable. Who would try to argue with her on the matter? Not all of her atention has been set on the spoils, however. "Kjartan!" - she quickly dashed to a crumbling wizard. "I'll live," - he replied, - "but we should leave this place." It was almost a day of walking, climbing and walking again through crumbling halls of the cult. And if anything good can be said about knight Marko, it is that he held to his word. The path was clear. And he was among the first men they saw, when the party walked out of what once was an inconspicuous house on the edge of Brayeshalum. "Remember, he wanted to cave in and bury this hole?" - "Yeah. We should probably hold to that line. Let him bury this place now." The party took yet another look to the great fissure spanning almost a quarter of the city, and going even bigger as it gets deeper. "Hold on you there!" - the guards alerted the knight of their presence, - "Noone's going anywhere! You got a lot of explaining to do!" "Listen, sweetheart," - Tamilin took a step to the side, - "Our friend here is dying. We're going to the inn right away. And I will kill anyone trying to stop us. If you have any doubts, look back there again before making hasty decisions." "Well, you go then. But we will talk later." "Sure. We have a lot of explaining to do." The knight sighed and gestured to the guards to clear the path.

+1! Really enjoyed the read of this entire epic fight.
One of my favorite moments personally, when Tamilin / Selen makes it very clear she'll kill anyone who stands in the way of helping the Wizard.

Initially, I though to cut the story before party leave the fight, but as I was writing it, it became apparent that I can't just cut the episode out of the story.
Sorry for the language of the story, English isn't my native tongue.

anrdaemon I agree. Artists use different paints, canvas, marble, stained glass. The beauty is in awakening the imagination, sharing a vision. Thanks for a great story.
