No defeat screen?

I got wiped out! Woohoohoo. The turn log just tell me my last colony has been destroyed by xeno. That is it? No further screen shaming me on my defeat? 

Not only that, the game is behaving as if I have not established any colony yet in the colony and politics screen. Honestly I should get a defeat message and get dumped out into the main menu.

Game date: 8.8 AE, game probably ended 5 turns back. 
Factions: Thulun, Cadar, Javat
Map: Delga: The Garden.
Difficulty: Hard.
Xeno count: 4

Nyktos xeno who started near top of map (?) killed me. They have 34 colonies at game ends. Last faction to die was Thulun.
