You can really do some interesting stuff with it.

Like the Ship Designer, this is v1 of the Character Designer -- so it will get a bunch of updates for the next two weeks, and several new features.

And anyway, what are you doing to me! I've gotten into CK right now and loving the game. I haven't yet STARTED Episode 3 of HoS. There are still Xenos to kill in TA, and now you have some cool-as-cool updates for ST!

Can we have a run down of the editor please?

It mentions you can edit starting rep and credits among other things, but how flexible is that? I mean could it be abused to create a captain with strengths which would be abnormally high for the starting game, or to give an unfair advantage towards earning rewards on higher difficulties? I realise of course you don't HAVE to take advantage of those things. I'd just like an explanation of exactly what it is and how it works (maybe with screenshots) before I hand over my 66p

Usually, especially for starting characters, you have a certain pool of XP resources that you divy up. You could throw all of the points into Negotiate, and nothing else. That could be a very very interesting (and short-lived) captain

Not sure if your custom captain will be able to get any of the "special bonuses" that you get with specialized captains (eg Pirate or Explorer or Spy). Still not available in my play store ... grrrrr mutter fume ... ... back to CK
