Booted up the game for another go and realized I don't know what I'm doing with some of this stuff. I understand AP, but MP I'm unsure of. Say an enemy has 3 MP. Does that mean he can move up to 3 spaces? And enemies can still both move to their max range AND attack with 1 AP? Just trying to figure stuff out.

Officer Genious correct. so MP can only be used for movement by mob or character. 1 mp per square (except stairs/river water crossings). When moving MP is used before AP. Remaining AP can be used to move for the same cost 1 per reg square. Mob attacks only cost 1ap per attack so a mob left with 3ap can swing at you three times. Hope that helps.

Note in some cases, the enemy can move a further time AFTER an attack. That is, they can move to you, attack, then move a couple more squares. I believe the total MP is still not exceeded with this though.

I think I can give you a simple breakdown. This is only regarding NPC, and not applicable to characters. An NPC can move <MP> squares per turn, and can move or attack for the amount of its AP. If NPC have MP left after attack, they MAY move after the attack. Depends on individual AI.
P.S. I think I should state this explicitly, even though the above explanation is clear: NPC are not suffering from difficult terrain. At all.

Okay, thanks guys! It helps to think of it like CK movement range and staying out of trouble-- I do best in CK when I can step in, slap some people, and step out. I can't quite step out in HoS without MP+, but I can beat the snot out of someone who wastes their turn charging me. Mwahahaha

I'm trying to remember (brain zoink). Moving over disabled traps costs player characters 2-MP per square but only costs monster 1-AP right?

I'm trying to remember (brain zoink). Moving over disabled traps costs player characters 2-MP per square but only costs monster 1-AP right? NPC are not affected by terrain, unless it is at all impassable. And regarding traps, fallen had stated that explicitly earlier, when the auto-disarm change has been introduced. NPC only spend 1 MP(or AP) per square.

Also, John Robinson- moving over a trap only costs 2MP if you stepped on it without disarming it. If you disarm it first, it acts as regular terrain.

Don't you lose all ap/mp when triggering a trap?

thehowler - you do, but if you trigger a trap that way the terrain left behind is "difficult" (2 MP / AP to cross). If you disarm it, the terrain left behind is normal.
