Fog of war disappearing

I've had this happen randomly and, no matter how I try, I can't figure out what triggers it. Sometimes I can load my game 3 or 4 times in a row and each time the fog of war on the entire map will be gone. I'll be able to see all xeno, ships, planets, etc. After that I'll try to reload my game and the fog will be back.

I have the latest version of the game and am running it on my LG G3 if that makes any difference.

That's the behavior I would expect if the OS returned an I/O error while reading the fog file, which is stored separately from the saved game.
