Here are a few requests from the perspective of an inexperienced player. (I'm playing ST4X for the second time. The first time was a month or so after ST4X launched. BTW-the tutorial works much better now.)
1. Early in the game, the adviser tells you to "activate" an anomaly. Please add the word "explore", because that is name of the button on the appropriate ship.
2. Make it a bit easier for the first-time player to access game-critical information. For example: 2.a. Early-ish in the game, when the adviser tells you to make a colony, please provide info on the colony bonuses associated with each faction. One approach might be a button that took you to the "Faction List" screen. (I only found this info because I knew of the bonuses based on reading on the forum.)
2.b. Early-ish in the game, push the user info on Mines. The purpose and function of mines is much less clear than that of Hab Units and Factories. The "Colony Installations" screen shows that Mines have "Maintenance $5/Turn", but doesn't show income. This led me to believe mines were a net drain on my economy but, after reading the library entry on "Minerals", I realized mines net effect is to increase income. Maybe early on the adviser could point the player at the Mines/Minerals library entry. (Also maybe the second paragraph under "Minerals" should be moved to "Mines".)
2.c. Maybe, early on the adviser could tell the player the steps for accessing the library by using the button in the lower right corner. I just stumbled upon that recently.
P.S. I'm enjoying my second play through.

tenbsmith - thanks for the feedback. We are working on a whole new tutorial and have added these suggestions to our planning design.

tenbsmith - yep, an improved tutorial would cover more of the game's topics, for sure!

I put this comment here cause its likely that this already exists or has been requested already.
How about a snap to function. I've found that I'll be roaming around the map, or going through my colonies, whatever, and by the time I'm back to the main map, I've forgotten what ship I was moving last and where I left it. (Oddly similar to how I forget to use my XP...) If I were able to double click on the ship's icon in the corner and have the screen center on the selected ship, it would save me sending random ships in random directions.
Does this request make sense? If so, would it be do-able?
By the way, is the PC version have a better AI than the mobile version. PC, have about 8 xeno ships, all dumb as nails. Its like whack a mole, great fun. On my android phone, same tutorial map (i think), same difficulty, no aliens. I mean, this too is great fun. Good way to learn some of the basic mechanics, but I did feel it was unusual.

sheff - there are many different races of aliens and they do all act differently. The tutorial aliens are especially dense The PC / mobile versions have the same AIs. Thanks for the feature request, we'll investigate. Maybe a hotkey.

Honestly, its not the aliens that seem to be the trouble. Its the managing of the factions that'll give you grief. Huh. Look at that. You've successfully simulated running every human gov't ever tried. Congrats to you Trese Bros!

Ugh. I find that usually a trade embargo/war kicks in just before my trade alliance finishes. Or, you know, just start a major fleet expansion and a succession of solar wars kick off. Im looking at you DV...

Nah. What really sucks is spending money on trade summits and trade alliances only to have be invalidated by a trade war or spy battle.
Too bad you can't OP Cadar and have them conquer the other syndicates...
Wish List?

Javat: Hey look, aliens!! We should stop fighting now!!
Steel Song: Yes, a truce will be made until the aliens leave.
Thulun: Yes, brethren, let's work together!
(5 turns later)
Thulun: ... So the Council have decided that Javat minerals are cheap rocks good only for throwing at green smuggler scum.
Javat: You prissy twit, I'll make you eat those words through a diamond-encrusted straw you pretentious bastards!!
SOLAR WAR DECLARED!
Steel Song: But the aliens... (can't be heard over shouting, finally just face-desks over and over again at the irony of it all).

That's why I go syndicate. They don't even pretend to work together. Or even to bother paying attention to what you do. Syndicate leaders just bunker themselves up and blame the templars when it all hits the engines.
I'll never have to worry whether it's my fault. I know it's not when I started. Cue endorphin rush from successful self-deceptive logic in 3, 2, 1...

Nice avatar sheff! Yeah I mean, at least with the syndicates you know that they are sending bounty hunters after you because you blew up several of their patrol ships. Rather than: "Ooh look!" "What?" "He bought some water-fuel from our enemies!" "He must die for this. Doesn't he know there's a war on!" "Death seems a bit too far for a few gallons of fuel..." "Nonsense! He has impinged the Honor Of Thulun!" *Places captain at top of most wanted list*

I find that it suits my personality. Avatar I mean, not the syndicates. And it was the best I could do in 5minutes with snipping tool and paint...
