This is a thread for compiling things that you notice or think about life in the underdeep. It could be a humorous observation about what it would be like to actually live underground or idiosyncrasies that you notice in the game.
A few things I've found interesting recently are:
Shingled roofs on buildings. I guess some caves could be quite drippy though.
Water that appears to be disturbed. If you've ever seen water in a real cave it is usually still as can be and clear.
The water thing got me thinking about the lack of wind in caves and the effect that would have on unpleasant human-caused odors. Apparently the All-Father provided some sort of oxygen recirculation in those caves along with the gloom too.

These are strange caves for sure -- a day and night cycle in the gloom.

I understand now why there are no cows in the Underdeep. Imagine the dead zones with nowhere for all that methane to go.

Since the caves are SO big, there's no surprise that there's air circulation in them.

I think the Underdeep is really a world-ship, the shattering a hull break and disaster that let in radiation causing mutations creating the ratkin, orcin, krete etc...nano enhancements forming the basis of the "magic" and 70 years after the denizens have forgotten their true origins.

Orcs were there for ages before. And ratkin, I bet, were, too. If you noticed, humans lived in underdeep long before the shattering. Long before anyone remember it.

anrdaemon, there's some interesting info on that in the Fang subquest. Nobody said it was humans!

Wasn't orcin either. And I doubt that the children of the all-father have been building the temples for themselves.
