So I'm loading up star traders 4x and the screen talks about the war between the Alfaan and Xarth...what are they?

I remember Cory saying that they are the creators of the Xeno and Narvidians, and the hyperwarp gates, but I don't know much else.

The Alfaan and Xarth were both millions of years old when they begin this war. The Alfaan are scientists, tacticians and scholars. They are beings made almost entirely of energy fields and probably evolved on planets orbiting very close to system’s star. The Xarth are builders, warriors and conquerors. They are immense lizard like creatures and probably evolved on moons orbiting gas giants far from the system’s star.
In the war between the Alfaan and the Xarth a strategy emerged with each race to counteract the strengths of the other. The Alfaan created carbon-based lifeforms to be warriors, builders and conquerors. The Xarth created machines to be scientists, tacticians and scholars.

Whoa...I thought they were like ancestors of the guild and noble family's that founded the factions. Are they extinct? Or just moved on? Maybe Shalun was a half breed Xarth!?!

Did the Alfaan build the hyperwarp gates? The Alfaan exist within the hyperwarp dimension. They built (and hid) the gates to facilitate the movements of their real-space minions around the universe. The Xarth created the Narvidians. The Alfaan created the bioforming worlds. |
