I like meters as much as the next cat - Aliens had good meter decreases as the sentry canons chewed through their ammo. The meter certainly is an improvement to understanding how tired you are, and is a fantastic first step. I too agree that probably the word descriptors for your state should just match what the word descriptor say when you click on your character portrait. Newcomers like me quickly learn the meanings, and get comfortable with what they mean on a general basis. It allows you to have that flexibility to drop from Stimmed Up to Dog Tired (and back again) without the sudden questions "What happened to all those green bars I had?" All in all though, as I said, the meter bar is a great first step and at least gives you an indication of whether you need to go rest before another activity

No, I really am only seeing 5 states.
A whole lot of green bars (this is when I wake up)
~6 green bars
~3 green bars
1 green bar
0 green bars

Right now 0 green bars can mean 'exhausted now' and 'will get exhausted soon' but you say that is a bug, so ok.
Hell will freeze over before I care about 1, 3 or more than 3 green bars. They all say the same thing to me, 'you are not close to falling asleep'. All I care about is 'close to falling asleep -- how close?'. And, unfortunately, because the meter is being used to tell me in detail, how not-tired I am (when I don't give a damn) it cannot be used to tell me something that I would be interested in knowing, namely how many hours do I have before I fall over exhausted. If the meter could help me know 'sleep first, get in the taxi tomorrow' or 'try to get a last job in from the Church of Saint Patrick', then it might be useful to have. As things stand now, it doesn't provide me with any usuable infomation. When the meter is at 0 bars, you know you should wander around taking jobs and trying to finish them before you become exhausted, which will happen sometime, but it could be next step and could be 2 hours from now. So absolutely no improvement on not having the meter in the first place.

It occurs to me that I would like the meter if it worked in reverse. RIght now, despite its label, it is a 'rested' meter, not an exhaustion meter. More bars means more rest.
Instead of 'a whole lot of bars' meaning -- I am rested, I would rather that be the state where there are 0 bars. I am fine with 0 bars for rested, alert. Show a few bars for 'tired' and then use every one of those 21 states I haven't been able to see yet to mean a different state of dog-tired or close to falling over while crack-jaw/crammed out.

I'm not sure the exhaustion meter is helpful to me or not.
I took two escort contracts out of tuckermore's saloon. After delivering the first mark to the barrens, the meter had zero bars. When I tapped on it, I was only tired. I had one day left to escort the other mark to dorcester. I rested, because I had time and the destination was relatively close by.
Unfortunately that isn't always the case and often you're trying to finish a contract when exhaustion creeps up on you forcing you to use some crammers so you can get the exp from finishing the job. (Wow, there's a run on sentence).
But the biggest reason I rested when i did was because I didn't know how much longer it would take to become exhausted. It isn't any fun to end up in combat in that condition.
If the meter was more accurate and reflected at a glance the true condition of your Knight, it might be helpful. But if it isn't, I'm not sure it is any better than not having it at all.
Just my opinion.
