Tiles controlled? Like blocking a hallway?

Oh oh oh Cory Trese I remember what I wanted to ask ... 3) Will you (finally) support attacking diagonals for melee attacks? That is, if an enemy is one square NE, NW, SE, or SW of your position, you should be able to hit them. Right now, you can only hit N, S, E, W and it's frustrating. This is true for CK and TA, and it would be absosmurfly amazing if you could make diagonal melee a reality.

hissrad -- tiles controlled by saying "cover this area, shoot anything that moves!" slayernz -- diagonal attacks of all kinds are supported, in TA2.

I cannot convey how excited I am to play this game. I don't know too much about TA1, mostly because I could never make it past the third level, but with the new movement/attack/control scheme, I'm fairly certain this will become my new favorite (sorry HoS...)
Eagerly awaiting that newsletter and the subsequent Alpha.

I am sooooOoo happy that diagonal melee attacks will be supported. The Berserkers of the world will rise up and claim the destiny that was theirs for the taking. Imagine a full Berserker squad, slaughtering the hoards - we could break the 800 and 1000 kill records that stand in TA1

Berserkers also can equip shields, allowing both auto-block and auto-counter attacks.
Several classes (Captain, Berserker) also have AoE melee attacks, which is awesome.

I never liked berserkers. Always felt like they were a wasted spot in the squad. Hydra, Neptune, Captain and a scout or soldier.

Hydras and Neptune Troopers are best for defensive missions, as their best armors are minus 2 AP, and their weaponry is best at conserving AP/reactionary attacks.

May not be best protection, but less AP penalty. Took a squad of four. Captain, soldier, Neptune and Hydra through all the campaigns with no loss of life. Slower than using scouts but unkillable when used right. Frequently led with the Neptune (since he can't shoot over the shoulder of anyone else) and patiently led the line forwards. Hydra would occasionally spread fire behind me as I progressed to stop xeno approaching from behind. The only problem with that approach is the hydra would occasionally run out of ammo on longer missions meaning he was a passenger by the end.
