Hello,
I have been playing ST for a while now, and i have almost all of the awards unlocked... but i HATE my phone and I want to get a new one.
is there any way to backup my data and transfer it to a new phone?
The only thing stopping me from getting a new phone is the fear of loosing my ST data! Please help!!

As a side note i do not have Root access... (which is part of why i want to get a new phone or install a ROM), and i am using android 2.3.3.
in the thread linked above it says files can be found in "/data/data/*/databases/ folder." but i could not find anything like that in my data folder.
When i open my data/ folder there is only one sub-folder, and that has do do with my visual voicemail app... I verified that i had my folders set to view hidden files, but still no luck.

So basically it is impossible for you to root your actual device ?

From all of the research i have done, it is imposable to root my Gingerbread (2.3.3) android G2x phone without installing a ROM... and i cannot backup most of my data without having Root access... It seems to be a catch 22!

Honestly, I have to admit that I don't see any solution for now... But my skills are really poor when it comes to this.

Google would not be pleased with me =) Unfortunately I made some poor design choices. Last year, ST RPG was a joke. At the time we had no plans to charge for the game, no Elite edition and no idea anyone would EVER care enough to need a "backup." Mea Maxima Culpa, C PS: I am working on some stop-gap solutions. Hopefully in a few weeks we'll have the ability to transfer Awards using a code.

OK… I got this to work…
I created a backup of my Android Install.
I installed a new rooted ROM (CM7)
Next, I figured out how to read the data.img file created by my backup (this was the hardest part of the whole process). And I found the “/data/data/com.corytrese.games.startraders/databases/data” file.
I then installed RootExplorer, and found the “/data/data/com.corytrese.games.startraders/databases/data” file on the new install, and overwrote it with the one from my old install…
Everything looked like it was going to work smoothly, (my old captain was loaded under “continue game”)… However, if I try to continue that game, load my roster, or even create a new captain Star Traders Elite would cras saying “The application Star Traders Elite (Process com.corytrese.games.startraderselite) has stopped unexpectedly.
After doing a little more reading I figured out I had to change the Permissions on the data file…
Now, everything works!!! I have my old captains and my old awards. All in all it took me about 8 hours of reading, research, trial and error to figure this out, but it would have taken me a LOT longer to get all of those awards back! And on the Plus side I came away knowing a lot more about my phone than I did before, so it was a win-win experience!
