Cory Trese and others When you switch out Vraes mix between 2H and shield are you putting points into Phalanx Shield? I feel like that would waste points but would really help when he's dealing with lots of ranged damage. Thoughts?

If I plan on switching between the two, I don't use Phalanx. Putting anything in Phalanx locks him into a shield. You can do it, but he will be less effective because those points would be wasted.
IMO if you want to switch, go with Stone Skin and his other defensive buffs.

Last I checked there is actually an exploit regarding Phalanx Shield and unequipping your shield after you cast it. I saw it once, but forgot to report it (ehhhem fallen, Cory Trese). I should go try it on my current build and see if it still works. |

I should go try it on my current build and see if it still works. That's very useful to know... I'll look into that. .. now delete your post before they see it and fix the loophole...  Actually, I wouldn't use loop hole because I like him having a 2ap weapon. I always spray damage with lightening spear from Vincent before anyone else moved. Frequently this leaves whoever he hit almost dead. Vraes having 3 attacks can finish off one more person Vincent wounded than he could with a 3ap weapon. No 2 handed 2ap weapons I know, so he'll always have a shield in this build with Vincent for me. |

Vraes with Stoneskin, Phalanx, BoS and Juggernaut using 2AP Spear and Shield. Back him up with Kjartan who invests in Pureflame, Ash and Immolation and Fyona who goes Strickening, SoC and Fervor. Very high Armor, decent defense against ranged and enough HP to soak anything short of a Tac Nuke.  Also between the curses and weapon he shouldn't need to invest in strength or spears much freeing up points to stick elsewhere like Constitution, Dexterity, leadership and lore. |

I often carry a pair of weapons for Vraes, the best 2H / 3AP and the best 1H / 3AP I can find. I'll go 2AP if not using Ferocity -- Vraes is really great in that you can switch his gear around based on the types of monsters your fighting. Heavy ranged and cursing? Shield. Swarms of high damage skeletons? 2H! Fiona with 2 handed hammer and holy reckoning for skeleton swarms |
