I agree, but I also put forward that the best defense is a good offense. It will take time to build up the fleet, and Im not suggesting a strike anytime in the near future, just that we build with a specific goal in mind. Perhaps placing the bulk of our fleet near the Xeno?
I don't claim to be an expert on ship ratios, so I leave that technical stuff to someone else, butI do feel that our offensive starts right away. At least if we can get an initial preemptive strike in, even if we fail, it gives us a little time to rebuild.

Templar Command has commissioned a new map from the cartography dept ( startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/11241/great-clans-community-cartography-thread) This is a quick war map that is focused on identifying fronts and zones rather than individual systems. I ask that all of the council head over there and take a look to understand our current situation. As you can see there is a large amount of deep space between us and the Nyktos xeno. Any campaign against the Nyktos will require a large amount of carriers and sacrifice in order to take a system to act as a forward operating base for repair and refuel. In contrast there are several systems in close proximity to the SE Front (Sidtax Xenos) That will allow us to create a solid supply line to the front.

//OOC
I want input from everyone on the map I just threw up. What colors are easiest for you to read? Are any of our player's colorblind / vision impaired? If so please let me know what will make it easier for you. I want to work on a properly annotated map next, but it is going to take a lot of time. I'm reteaching myself some image editing things as I go...I took a class 11 years ago (god I shouldn't admit that) and by Shulan have things changed! So I want to make a map of our home area once and do it right/best for everyone the first time.
Due to the Size of map we are playing on I plan on making eventually as explored 4 separate maps as just where systems are.
Zone / War maps I can throw together in about an hour +/- and those Ill throw up as needed.

Also, there having been no objection to the Procedure for the Adoption of Proposals, and two factions supporting, could the Procedure for the Adoption of Proposals I posted a few days ago in this thread be adopted?

Maybe. Its quite formal and starchy. Does it offput the games fun or help clarify? Thoughts please.

Clan Moklumnue wiuld like to point out that we are already operating well within the parameters of this proposal. However, if a small technicality might be pointed out, definitions of controversial and uncontroversial should be included. Perhaps having an escalating scale instead of a segmented agreement. For instance, any Clan may make proposal, and would require the opposition of another clan to make it controversial. However, it would not be considered controversial if an individual opposed a specific proposal. This fits the RPG style of play that we have been using. Individual views do not necessarily reflect the views of government or even affect policies.
We of the Moklumnue have no objection. Whether these changes are implemented or not, we leave to the council.

The map' s good for me, but wasn't there already a definition of "Controversial" and "Uncontroversial" at the bottom of the document?

**EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION** Nyktos Xenos have settled a colony in the second expansion zone!
What is the faction council's proposed response?
It seems these are truly dark times. By the grace of Shulan may we prevail! **End Transmission**

Great Templer CdrPlatypus, We of the Zenrin have come together behind one plan and would put this proposal befor you. First we wish our RnD to work on more wepons and ships. We have a new torp platform we wish to build as we go to war. Secondly we ask for ntsheep to be placed into his forma position ..... coffee can wait Now here is our plan. Zenrin will build 3 colony ships. One will take Extreth, the second the planet you requested us to take and the 3rd one of the red ones in the expantion area full of xenos. Extreth can grow as normall but we ask to have the 2 planets on the front subsidesed so they can quickly become fleet planets where we can defend our system. We have let the other nations build what they felt they needed to help them grow. Now we ask them to let us push forward to protect us all This is the will of clan Zenrin and we are firm in our resolve. Some one must take a stand and Zenrin have stood forward. *Torvus salutes then takes his seat*

Three extra colonies would throw our political balance completely off. Alta Mesa requests that more thought new given to this. If we all were to expand together, we would have no objection, but as it stands, Alta Mesa cannot support this measure of your proposal.

So expand with us. We mean to do this, and we suport the expantion of others.
There is another red planet that needs colanising in the same sector and many planets at home that can suport strong colanies.
I belive clan Moklumnue are looking for at least 2 planets.
We wold urge all the great clans to follow in this growth

Given our grave situation the High Templar grants Zenrin's colonization requests and asks that the other clans plan to expand with haste as well. We must occupy systems on the Western front to slow the spread of the Xeno while we prepare to attack

So be it, commander. We will consult the charts and return with our proposed systems for colonization.

If no objections are to be had, Alta Mesa will claim the red system (north west most red star in our original area) that we have been promised since our initial colonization effort was spent on a different system than this.
We would lay claim to a red system in the second expansion sector, then leave the final colony up to Templar discretion. We stake no claims to either of the yellow systems to our south, unless none of them are claimed by the Moklumnue or Zenrin clans, in which case our third colony will be sent to whichever one lays unclaimed.
Our priority is first to provide an infallible buffer against the Xeno. With Zenrin's resistance to morale drop, and our own ability to churn out ships, we will be able to hold the line- of this there is little doubt.
In order to ensure that our fleet is able to keep itself repaired and ready, perhaps our signature ship could be built at some point. A fast torpedo vessel that is also repairable could prove immensely useful.
