So I'm sitting here playing and I think to myself, "What if there were waypoints in the game?"
So expanding on that, one of the things that gets monotonous (at least to me) is having to travel long distances across the map. It gets old swiping across the screen every time I need to get to a map edge. So what if just like buildings and important places have a listing in the map screen that you can double tap to travel there, why not have waypoints that are designated squares at the edges of sectors one could double tap to go to. That way one could still travel across the sector screen getting random encounters, gaining experience, money, and loot, plus the movement across vast distances becomes less tedious.
My other thought is that it could be a computer or equipment upgrade one had to buy before one gained the ability, that way people who like the travel system as is can keep it, and people hungry for a little more action and less drudgery could also have their way.
Either way, I love your work and everything you've added to the game over the years. I wish more developers were like you. Keep up the great work.

Have you tried the blue buttons that are arranged around the map? You can tap them to head in a direction. That is how I do 90% of my movement. If you see one that is green, it is a smart exit (denoted by a green dot on the map) and you can long press it to go to that smart exit.

I have indeed tried them and do use them for about 90% of my movement. They aren't great at intelligent routing (around buildings and especially dead ends) but they work. I was just wishing for an improvement that's all. I hope this doesn't sound too whiny, but I also don't like how they clutter up my interface especially, when everything else looks so clean and neat. Oh well. I've dealt with it this long. But maybe you could look into tweaking the d-pad routing?

Are you using both types of d-pad routing, both smart and direct?
If you're fully using smart routes, I think the discuss is more about additional routes rather than a change to the system.
