...what exactly is 64 bit? It's referring to 64 bit chip architecture in some CPUs. "A big difference between 32-bit processors and 64-bit processors is the number of calculations per second they can perform, which affects the speed at which they can complete tasks. 64-bit processors can come in dual core, quad core, six core, and eight core versions for home computing. Multiple cores allow for an increased number of calculations per second that can be performed, which can increase the processing power and help make a computer run faster. Software programs that require many calculations to function smoothly can operate faster and more efficiently on the multi-core 64-bit processors, for the most part. Another big difference between 32-bit processors and 64-bit processors is the maximum amount of memory (RAM) that is supported. 32-bit computers support a maximum of 3-4GB of memory, whereas a 64-bit computer can support memory amounts over 4 GB. This is important for software programs that are used for graphical design, engineering design or video editing, where many calculations are performed to render images, drawings, and video footage. One thing to note is that 3D graphic programs and games do not benefit much, if at all, from switching to a 64-bit computer, unless the program is a 64-bit program. A 32-bit processor is adequate for any program written for a 32-bit processor. In the case of computer games, you'll get a lot more performance by upgrading the video card instead of getting a 64-bit processor."

Depending a lot on the platform in question -- this 64 bit thing has the biggest impact on Android and iOS, to a lesser extend the desktop.
It is true that most 3D graphic programs and games do not benefit much -- one great example of where they do benefit is in AI. The AI benefits from having larger memory registers and better parallel instruction sets.
This was a HUGE engine upgrade -- the results of weeks of work and testing. Overall it is probably one of the biggest technology upgrades we have done since Heroes was originally released.
So far, it seems to be paying off!

I already gave it a run on my tablet which is a 64 bit quad core and the turn processing is noticeably faster. I haven't had time to try it on my PC yet will later.

PC will have the least overall impact as big parts of the turn were already optimized for those CPUs. We'll keep working on this set of optimizations, and as we got things will get incrementally faster for all.

Finally getting back to playing this game after a huge hiatus. I'm really loving the faction specific techs scattered over the tree.
(Can we pretty please have some new backgrounds? I'm still having issues seeing the grid against the reddish background...)

Just a question, because I do not have the PC version of any of your games but have most on Android, what's the difference in the 4X on Android and PC? More content on the Latter?
