Welcome to the forum. Is there anyway to delete old files i use a new file every time? Not sure what you mean by this question. The closest thing which comes to my mind is that you can delete old Captains in Main game menu / Roster / View / Delete. How do i know not to go against the independants when taking new contracts? Contracts against Independents do not end with wording "The target <Faction>, knows as ... and our reputation is <number>." How do i know what to ally with? That is the tricky part. You have to choose . I am usually allied with my starting faction and one faction of my choice. I cant figure out how to replenish torpedos? Star Dock / Military Base / War Torpedo. But you have to either have military rank with the Faction, or visit independent military base. Or you can rob enemy ship after victory by clicking Rearm.

Keep in mind i am a newb and i play on easy hey welcome to the forums ok - i don't know about the first question, sorry, i just don't understand what you mean. now, the independents. here are some things to know: when you do jobs against them (when it says that independents will be trying to stop you, or no rep shown on the contract screen), the first mate <name withheld> will tell you the crew doesn't like working against independents. whatever, ignore that. just keep your crew spiced up and they'll forget all about it. now sometimes there will be an attempt to trick you into killing someone you don't want to. they will tell you it is an inderpendent(sic) that you are supposed to go kill, but when you follow him to his ship, you'll see him flying faction colors! you should assess the situation (i think political officer assists in this?). just be careful to check the flags even if you think it is an indy you are going to go kill. make sure you read the descriptions of the different factions. over time you'll know where their major trade routes and planets are, and you'll be able to derive a foreign policy that matches your play style and profession. i like to have two or three positive factions, and you'll find that it's fun to mix that number up from game to game. alliances are important because you will lose access to some planets facilities based on your choices
