Are there supposed to be green and yellow spaces in the middle of nowhere on some maps?
I am sorry I cant be more specific right now, will check out the map and game version, along with a screenshot.

If I recall correctly, they're ice formations that can be harvested and turned into W/F.

Yes, those are intentional and are place in key locations on some maps.

I noticed one to the west of the starting star cluster on the Garden,not much out there but I like to keep a few ships stationed there for scouting or early warning.
