In the same turn that I established a new colony on Munaitti Settlement, syndicate rychart sold the rights. Not sure if this is a bug but seems odd since this is the only time a clan has sold settlement on me and it happened in the same turn it was established. Did I at least get some cash for this? Year 7.17 on Rim 100x100 (60 worlds) on hard with 2 enimies. Have a screen shot if it helps.

dashit, welcome to the forum! I hope you don't mind me removing your duplicate post. This is the right subforum for your question though. In terms of colonies becoming independent, it does happen, and can happen on turn 1 of the colony being established. Sometimes it can happen well after the colony is established also - it's just one of the many things you have to worry about as you manage the different factions and colonies

If the planet quality is 4 or under it is converted to independent turn 1

I don't believe that you get any money, as it is Syndicate Rychart that sold it, not the Senate or Templar Command.

Damn what a rip off. The quality was 2 so it was doomed from the start. Just didn't know that could happen right away. Figured they would at least get mad at me after I overcrowded and starved them to death for a few centuries. Thank you for the help and replies. Love the game. Just wish there were random xeno encounters that required to keep you on guard. Game currently plays in two parts. Build up your empire then when you are ready to fight you can. Aliens have not bothered at all rill I pick on them.

Overcrowd and starve them... that's funny stuff.
The independent colony is still useful for refueling and repairing.
