Hello folks, Sgt. Cookie (As I am more commonly known) here to give you a Bounty Hunter strategy. This is based on Fenikso's pirate strategy.
Fellow Bounty Hunters, hear me and listen! My name is Trea, a Bounty Hunter for Cadar, but faction matters little to us. We are dispensers of justice, not soldiers of war. Listen and learn, for as criminals are growing stronger under the guidance of Alia Shawarazan, we too must grow stronger to fight them!
First off, as I said before, faction means nothing to us. That said I would suggest that you choose Cadar or Rychart to start with since they are both in a large portion of "safe" space.
When you start, you have no reputation. You are not feared by criminals at all. But, that is fine at the beginning. Fill your hold with water-fuel, you do not need the room for other cargo, and take a few simple contracts for money and experience. Oh and be on the look out for a Pirate Hawk or similar I was fortunate enough to encounter one early on and it has served me well since.
Getting a Trade Permit is useful to you as it will allow you to purchase weapons at a later date. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT get a Death Warrant just yet, you are not yet ready to fight stronger criminals. A military rank will enable you to replace the armor of your ship.
Spend your first few training sessions building Quickness to the same level as Strength, when you have done so work on Pilot and Warrior. Often has my prey gotten away due to superior piloting skills, so yours must be up to scratch too.
As for upgrades, a Water-Fuel tank is a must. It gives you space to store more of the stuff and cross longer distances. A leviathan system is also useful when you close in and board your foes. Dreadnought architecture is something else that I would suggest as well.
By now you will be skilled and your ship powerful enough to take on some stronger foes. Now is the time to purchase a Death Warrant. Constantly move from planet to planet looking for contracts for capturing or killing criminals, filling up your tank and hold with water fuel every time you land. You never know when something may happen and you ship starts using more than it needs.
Go forth fellow Hunters and may criminals use your name as a curse worse than death!
