Question: can you run a simulation of a level 35 party and fight one of the random Orc spawns in Bone Pass? Are they meant to scale that crazily? Cause those guys are dream wreckers ; ; (ratkin too but deathkin just look so cool it's hard to stay mad at them).

Just reiterating on this issue and monster variants.
It seems like there odd confluences of monster variants, monster levels, level caps, and equipment expectations that throw the difficulty curve out the window when entering particular areas. Glommers Path is one place. I've not fought the Bone Pass quest yet (iOS is slow to update), but just tested the Torrent Swamp with a new party but minor twist on an old, effective theme. After an anal retentive exploration of events and leveling through Episode 2, I went from destroying the Underforge, ending at level 28, to the Torrent Swamp and simply got wrecked. Having completed it three times before without problems at lower levels, I was rather disappointed at the turn of events.
With Krete levels at 33, Kincaid was essentially blown out of the dodge build. Ranged creatures were near 100% hit on Kincaid with 35 strong dice dodge and 21 regular dice. Throwing -8 accuracy on helped, but I just lost an ironman party with 5 straight consecutive hits on Kincaid (some enemies had -8 accuracy). Melee enemies were also problematic with very high hit success despite Kincaid having 19 parry, 38 dodge, 16 weapon skill, and 6 weapon parry, obliterating sure parry and frequently puncturing to hit him each turn. I know for a fact this party iteration wins well through Episode 3 to the end with similar stats (barring a few equipment upgrades).
The bounces in difficulty are problematic, especially when fighting enemies of the same name but different difficulty level. Is there a way to more clearly differentiate the jumps in difficulty due to different enemy base stats or level jumps with enemies? As it currently functions, it is a rather hostile mechanism as players have no way to discern enemy stats, leaving trial and error as the sole means of testing. Even old RPGs pulled the classic color swap, i.e. Blue slime < Red Slime

Thanks for the feedback, we'll keep working to improve. There is a lot of difficulty variation as you enter E2 - E4, as you can do so many things out of order.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I imagine it is hard to plan around people coming at things from so many paths. My biggest concern is the lack of players ability to understand difficulty jumps. I could have been more conservative after the first battles and headed to the inn to spend talent points from the level up. My previous experience with the Krete swarm made me over confidence.
The biggest thing though is that I could have survived that round with better placement, so good game playing still trumps everything.

phaze - we will keep looking at it, and especially as E4 goes live, there will be even more groups at a wider range of levels hitting these areas. So, we'll keep trying to improve. I would always suggest going to spend Talent points quickly

Except backtracking to different areas to spend talent points adds steps and screen switches and extra resting that dings ironman scoring

phaze - if scoring is the holy grail, then yes ... never go to the town until the boss is killed and you get an option for a shortcut return

I haven't had problems with any mobs until I began the Druid Erghanna quest line. I almost threw my phone at the wall after racking up 10 deaths in the first mob that attacks my team. I think I'm done for today, because when I become stressed playing it is no longer serving it's purpose to help me unwind. I'll play Witcher 3 and try the Erghanna quest again tomorrow.
Does anyone have any tips for the best approach to the immediate swarming which occurs?

gemini - can you be specific about what happens? The fight defending those walls is very hard.

I can't even make it to the walls, and therein lies my problem. Am I supposed to attempt to kill certain krete and then attempt to reach the make a stand spot? I've attempted to try several routes to get closer to the defensive walls, but end up with someone dying in the first turn for the bad guys.
I am guessing it is a case of PEBKAC because this is the first issue like this that I have had. The Underforge was no problem for me, so I know I'm just doing it incorrectly with my approach. I'd rather repeat all of the Underforge again than have even one round with these flipping krete. I don't like them or their douchebaggery.

gemini - can you share your level? What group build do you have? Who is killing you -- is it the archers? Do you have strong magical resistance? At that point, Krete are almost all attacking with some elemental magic in their hits.

If your team is not capable of withstanding massive ranged damage, pick one side and run in close. As fast as you can. Focus fire to kill as much per turn as possible. Your goal is to clean up the field, not to prolong the fight as much as possible. If I recall correctly, there's two initial groups, one on the landmass immediate to you, one across the fording. Pick one you think you can manage better. If your group is all melee, I suggest staying on the land and let other mobs come your way. Do NOT rush deeper into the swamps. Chances are, you will trigger a number of additional spawns.

Which curses are you flinging? Well I will ask my husband if I can grab his, because I am sorely lacking in that area. Okay. That answers my question. I was charging to the defense point instead of killing the first two mobs. I had intended to fight them until it told me I could not make a stand until I got to the better defensive position. I am going to go do it now as I'd intended originally. Thank you!
