A couple years ago I was a huge fan of ST RPG on my phone. I just loaded 4X on my kindle fire tablet and am anxious to refresh my memory and enjoy the new experience. I'm going through the tutorial where we need to have a ship with the Explore talent to explore anomalies. There doesn't seem to be anywhere that tells us which talents a ship has. I was able to deduce that the transport don't have that talent but the fighter does. If I exit the game and focus on the fighter, I see the Explore button on the right. Click it and I see the range indicator around the ship. But on clicking the Somali next to the ship, the range indicator clears, no info is shown, and the buttons disappear. I need to edit the game and re-enter to see the buttons, which again don't help. So at this point I'm stuck, unable to explore anomalies. Bug, or feature? Thanks

@captain starbuck - sounds like a device bug or a misunderstanding about how Talents work. I have tested this here on an Android and a PC and see it working properly. What device are you playing on? Android OS version? Can you check the main menu of the game and share the version of the game? Does this happen with other Talents? Here is a Let's Play for an early 4X game that might help! www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNjjENqwt1E

Thanks I think that's the normal way it works. When you click the explore button and then select an anomaly, it uses-up the ships ap (Action Points) so the Explore button disappears (which is normal) but the anomaly won't get explored until you end your turn. Kind of the way the colonize command works, except that it doesn't automatically end the turn.
When you exit the game and re-enter, it takes you back to the beginning of the turn, clearing any moves or commands you made in the turn prior to exiting, including the explore command. That's why the explore button re-appears (the ship got it's ap's back), but you canceled the Explore command in the process. I recommend that you try it again and when the explore button disappears cheerfully accept that, and end the turn (without exiting first). Then the anomaly should get explored.

elwoodps - ahhh, thanks for understanding the report and explaining it. Dead on! This behavior is covered in the tutorial as well.

Yeah, you guys were right, I didn't understand the flow. We're all good. Thank you very much. I'll be watching some videos and doing more reading.
