Is there a way to scrap ships???

Select the ship you want to demolish, then touch it again to bring up its info page and there's a demolish button in the top left of the screen under the load out button.

Do you get fewer credits if the ship is a little...dinged? Just wondering if it is better to send heavily damaged ships out on a 'glory run', scrap em, or repair them over many turns.
